Why is my staff stealing all the money?
I made a store with 20,000$ profit, 100,000$ /day spent and 120,000$/day earned.
I left for one day to another store. 120,000$ disappeared. I have to close the other store and take a loan to bail myself out of the dept. What happened? Did they steal all of it? I have cashiers sellers and security.

As far as I know the store should pretty much make or lose nothing while your away. I read that in a post.

Do you have a manager in your store?

You still have costs ticking such as upkeep and rent even if the store is closed.

Yeah there wasn't any manager. I didn't think they would steal all the earnings.

If it was rent it would be okay. All the earnings from sold articles "disappeared".

I figured it out. It turns out when there's no daily manager the employees pocket all the money from that day sales.

That's why I asked if you have a manager. You get a penalty if you don't have one.
When you go to the city view and select your store, you can see the calculated profit. It's based on your last visit, +/- for the manager. If there is no manager, you'll make a huge loss, so always promote one of your employees to a manager before opening your next store.

Also, the profit drops over time when you're not in the store. So keep an eye on it and revisit your store from time to time to make sure that it makes enough profit again.
There is a HQ manager (I forgot which one it was) that helps you with that. You can then be away for a longer time before the sales will drop.

Yes I already figured this out. I don't know how does it make sense to have -100% earnings if there's no manager while the inventory is disappearing. It's either they pocket the money or stole the entire warehouse.

The inventory remains the same from your last visit. It doesn't change when you're not there as the goods are not actually sold, but instead, you only get the "calculated" profit.

So when you revisit your store, you will find the store as you left it. Inside, it's like it was yesterday the last time you were there.

Did you forget to reorder the sold articles maybe?

Lets back up. The store in question had like 15,000$ in expenses for wages and rent, 85,000$ spent each day to refill the stock and 120,000$ in earnings from sales amounting to 20,000$ profit.

I went away for a day leaving like 10,000$ in the store's account. How does it make sense that when I came back 2 days layer (so I was gone for 1 day) the store's account had negative 110,000$ (so 120,000$ disappeared)? I didn't have to reorder the inventory for the day I was gone.

What happened with the money? The only logical explanation is, they paid the rent and wages, reordered everything but stole all the 120,000$ earnings.

The game calculates it a bit different. I can't tell you from my head how this calculation exactly look like, but when you go into the city view and select your store, there is an "i" button next to the profit. There you can see how it's calculated.

It doesn't really sell/reorder articles, it's just numbers based on your last visit.

So the last day you played in this store, you sold articles and when you were in the office in the evening, did you place an order? Because as I said earlier, the inventory doesn't change.

If you did not reorder the articles, that would be the explanation for the "missing inventory".

The next time you revisited your store, it was in the same state were you left it.
Thus, all sold articles were still missing.

So always place an order before you switch to the next store. The delivery will be put on hold until you are there again. See it as if everything inside your store is on "pause" when you're away (The game doesn't care if the shelves are filled or not, as I said, it works with the numbers based on your last visit).

The inventory wasn't missing as I mentioned. All the earning were. It wasn't just the worth of wages rent and expenses normally used to refill the stock. The amount equal to my earnings from sales disappeared.
