Thoughts about HQ and Profits
I upgraded my HQ in an attempt to expand..
Which ended up being a bad decision.

I moved buildings to the second cheapest - 3k rent.
Since my second store failed; I closed it, let go some staff from my first store to try and help recoup the profits lost from the expanding endeavour, but apparently I'm still not making enough profits to cover the HQ costs of the new building.

The problem is, I'm now stuck with this HQ and I can't re-rent and downgrade to the lower building, as it's no longer available. I'm now considering letting all my staff go again, and to man the store alone as best I can until I can get enough concept points to expand what I sell. (I currently send 85% profits to HQ)

This isn't so much as a complaint, though I'd love the ability to downgrade the HQ buildings, and more of a discussion about your thoughts on HQ and managing profits. I actually quite enjoy the challenge, and I haven't yet gone bankrupt - I can likely make the money back with no staff - with such a small store I was raking in 7k+ daily in profits for HQ on my own.

Ok many questions there... why did you move to a new HQ if you have only 2 stores... Do you have employees in you HQ? Where you even making enough money in your first store to maintain the cost of the first HQ?
I wanted to just try a new concept. In hindsight, wrong move 😅 I opened my initial store and oth clothes but wanted to try the food one.

I have one employee who costs a fortune; I can't rememeber which she is off the top of my head.

My first store was making more than enough to support the first HQ. I got to 50k in the HQ fund and 20k in the store funds before trying a new concept.

It's likely I just jumped the gun, which is fine. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

It happens. I'm on my third attempt at it after bankrupting myself due to trying to expand too quickly. You need a lot of cash on hand to be able to keep expanding. In some ways I think the debt failure is a bit too punishing, but it is what it is.

Make a backup of your save after you are done with the missions so you will not have to redo the "tutorial" over and over.

First HQ only supports 2 stores 😉

OP did not have a second store before moving its HQ though...

Has changing how a store goes 'bankrupt' been discussed? Felt like bizzarro land to have a store shuttered when the corp was loaded. I didn't want to mess with the Corp Franchise Fee, so I was just hopping into the HQ to load up as I expanded the new store, not caring if the Corp Fee sent me negative, I was going to just go grab it back. Oops

So, As CEO of MY dream Company, I let the BANK repossess the land I purchased and all my stocked shelves because MY HQ clerk demanded that MY new store pay a fee to ME that it "couldn't"...... right I bankrupted my own store and gave everything away for free to the bank instead of waiving a fee?

I agree. When a store goes into the red then money should be deducted from your HQ instead, so if one day you would go 200$ under then 200$ should be deducted from the HQ and your store is then at 0$.

It is not perfect since you could cause your HQ to bankrupt, which is much worse, but until we have access at any time to bank loan and money transfer from and to HQ it would at least be better.

Making sure the Corp is stable should be the priority in a Vertical Hierarchy like this. Everything should flow to it - BUT then it should properly care for all the units under it's purview, if able to. NOT spitefully close our own store because the Bank refuses to let us move money realistically.

I totally appreciate the work put into this game. Obviously, I'm playing the heck out of it. I can't shut up about it lol

But this drives me insane. Arcane mechanics where you have to carefully manage reserves of $5000+ in every account because there are very limited times the Banks will be open. Apparently only 1 hour before whatever store you are at opens.....And that's it.

Reminds me of the 18XX games in boardgaming. The train 'Rust' and limit rules will get you every time until you've played half a dozen games and learn how to play the train/company manipulation meta game and learn the exact timing of the mechanics.

This prob irks me more because it's what I do in RL. I can log in 24/7/365 and move money between company accounts - even at home. OR - GASP - on my phone if I'm a passenger in a car! (you know - those phones you sell at the MR. Cyborg pop up?) My boss is not the best at keeping to a budget on a job, so I've plenty of experience at this lol. We do NOT just close up and turn everything over to the bank just because he spent $200 more than expected on screws....When we have $100k in the main company account.....

Very big key point here. As much as I felt like an idiot, somehow deciding to try a different route with the company and make a new concept, rather than build on the one I already had, I still enjoy this game even as it is.

Wish I had discovered it earlier into my week off work last week (which is, sadly, in retail) because I think I spent near 24 hours on it in two days.

In the end, I deleted my game once again, and I'm currently thriving with a single store rather than a corp. Maybe I'll try a corp again, but gather more money first...:steamhappy:
