Fatal error fix

I tried to run the game and recieved a message stating "fatal error". I tried both SteamVR beta and main branch but got the same error.

Then I started to think that there might be some not installed dependencies and found UE4PrereqSetup_x64.exe from steamapps\common\Red Matter\Engine\Extras\Redist\en-us folder. After running this it installed all missing C++ packages to my computer and after that the game worked.

Just wanted to share this. I hope that it will help someone else with the same problem.

Interesting! Supposedly the dependencies should have installed automatically during the game's installation. We will keep an eye out in case it happens to anyone else. Thanks for letting us all know!

I had the same problem after three hours of play. When trying to continue the game from the main menu, the message of unreal fatal error appears all the time ...
I tried it like 10 times yesterday and it was impossible to continue playing.

We are not exactly sure what might be happening, but our first thought is that there might be something wrong with your savegame. Could you please send it to us? Here is our email:
[e-mail].
In order to find your save game:
1. Hold Windows button on your keyboard and simultaneously press "R" key.
2. Type the following in the Run window and hit enter: %LOCALAPPDATA%
3. Browse to HYPNOS/Saved/SaveGames
4. Send us the files in that folder :)

I will play again the weekend, so I will do so by following your instructions.

In the worst case I will start it again. I like this game a lot

I'm having the same fatal error, and cannot even get to a menu. Black screen with the red matter logo, then error message. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the ue4 prereq exe to no avail. I've also restarted the comp just incase something needed a fresh boot. No luck.
