The Wanderer: Frankenstein's Creature

The Wanderer: Frankenstein's Creature

The Endings (Spoilers)
I have completed what I believe to be two, maybe three, of the possible endings, and I just wanted to discuss my process with achieving all of the endings. I absolutely love the book this was based off, and I absolutely love this game, its story, and its artwork. However, like the book, it is very tragic and I have cried in every single ending.

-Silentum
I achieved this during my third run, and I cannot describe how much I cried. I wept when I realized how helpless I was to save this tiny little bundle of pixels in a completely fictional game. I had to watch him die, and I had no way to talk him out of it or comfort it. (CW) Considering that depression runs in my family (including myself), the fact that he drowned himself and, by accepting his fate, only made it even harder for me, leaving me a sobbing wretch. I do note, it's a bit of a cruel nod, that the Creature dies by drowning, the same way Mary Shelley's husband, Percy Shelley, would meet death.
-Creator
This was my first run. Holy heck I did NOT see any of this coming. I was fully prepared to bring a verbal smackdown to Victor Frankenstein, only to find the Mysterious Woman instead. I thought she was going to be Elizabeth Lavenza, and I nearly threw the game out of shock when I realized who she TRULY was: Mary Shelley, creator of Frankenstein and the progenitor of the Wanderer. This was the TRUE god of this story, something that even I, the player who was controlling each and every action, had to submit to. When the Creature overloads on the realization, ("I am drowning" "Vertigo" etc.) I began to sob, for it seemed so similar to the sensory overloads I have struggled with. Right afterwards, I'm introduced to the cruel choice: accept the Creature's fate and let him die (see Silentum), or erase him for the chance of a better ending. I chose the latter, and cried as I watched each level, each memory, disappear into the darkness. Granted, I am happy, considering that it showed me the possible endings, and that I would not have to make the Silentum decision at the moment, it still hurt to watch the Creature I had come to bond with fade away.
-Alium (White)
My second run. So, the Creature finally gets a companion? I would be happy, but my gut instinct tells me this will not end as well as I want it to. I was right. The Second Creature (whom I am going to call Pandora now), is disgusted at the Creature's attempts to force her to become his companion, being bound to him until death. I have to admit, I agreed with her, but I had to continue on this path. Soon, a philosophical debate later, I'm left with the black and white choices to make, and I chose white. The Creature kills (or knocks out) Pandora, before dropping onto his knees. I wept, knowing that he did what he wanted, but even then, neither he or Pandora could have a happy ending. The music continues, and the credits roll, with the Creature next to his fallen Eve. It's such a shame that it continued to be a tragedy, but, that's the story of Frankenstein and his Creature. I started to believe there was no happy ending.
-Alium (Black)
My most recent run and my most recent ending. Dear heck, I knew it was going to happen, but I was still shocked. This time, you take control of Pandora, and decide her actions. She is angry at how she is connected to the Creature, and his selfish desires resulting in her creation. Always the Bride, never the Monster. Like Alium (White), the philosophical argument escalates (although Pandora is the executor of the actions), before the white and black choices appear once again. I chose the black one. The Creature and Pandora fight, and Pandora shoves both her and the Creature off the cliff-face to their ends. The credits roll over the abandoned cliff. Two wretches, bound in death. Neither way could the Creature find peace, and I cry yet again as I watch the beautiful cliff fade away.
-Vindicta...
EDIT: Finished Vindicta. It ended worse than I expected. Poor kid and lady, they didn't do anything wrong. Seriously, where the heck is Victor Frankenstein so I can try to attack him. I cried, as i expected. That was dark.

If i missed any endings please inform me. I dearly love this game and I want to find every single ending... even if it causes me to sob for the rest of my days.

Update: Found Mortem and finished Vindicta and.. holy heckyll I cried. That ended worse than I expected. Now I have the overwhelming desire to attack Victor Frankenstein.

So... hi there :) I hope you are feeling better, and i wanted to inform you that you are not alone in this tragic trip of a game.
I just finished it and it was so emotianally packed that i think i need 2 to 3 days to recover...
I got the Alium (White) ending. But to be honest i don't have the straignth to replay this after i just finished it :/ Also the controls of the character were kind of bad and full of glitches.
But anyway, i wanted to ask how many endings are there in the end?
And if you are so kind to tell me how do you get them? Exept for Alium (Black) which i know how to get :P
Thanks for your replay whenever that is :)
@OceanMan

(Nice Gillman icon!)

'Allo! :D I definitely feel better, although this game drained it out of me (and I can watch sad movies fine). This game is brutal, but in a different way than games like Dark Souls.
I feel you on that. I was very distressed upon finishing my first playthrough. Please take that time well, you deserved it.
It took me quite a while to play it again, and it's very hard to get the strength to play it again. Yeah, the controls we're somewhat crazy at times. At one point, I couldn't complete the axe minigame and had to reset the entire story. :/
The endings are Mortem, Vindicta, Creator, and Alium (Black/White). Overall, I have discovered four endings, with one having two endings. It appears that's the finite amount in the game, and there's no hint of new and/or secret ones.
Here are how to get the endings, based off my memory.

Alium (White): After making the Female Creature, choose all of the Wanderer's answers. At the end, when there's a white and black frame, choose the WHITE one to get the Alium (White) ending.
Motem:
Creator: While talking to the Wanderer after he writes down his life story, tell him you will show him his Creator. There, you will have the opportunity to either go along with one of the other three endings OR reset the game.
Vindicta: Choose all of the VENGEFUL actions (killing the child, burning down the house, not choosing a religion of redemption). Do NOT try to make a companion in Victor's lab.
Mortem: Choose all of the REMORSEFUL actions (roar, run away from the house, choose a religion of redemption). Do NOT try to make a companion in Victor's lab.
You're welcome! If you need any help with the endings, just give me a notification!

First of all, thanks for your answers :) Wow! I didn't expect the game to have so many endings. Maybe another time i will go back to it with a friend next to me , to check them all out. But for the time being i wanted this information to write my review of the game on the website i work.

Sadly i had to give the game a 4,5/10. Because the technical issiues were so many, and i lost my save file twice! And also the awkward controls didn't help the situation of my review...
For my personal opinion this game is a masterpiece in story telling, and of course it is, because it's based on an awesome and classic book. But technicaly the game was a mess :( Just like the story of our missfortuned creture in the game.

Any way, thanks again for your answer, you are very polite and a communicative person :) I hope you have a great day, and keep playing awesome and interesting indie games, like this :D

Ahhh, you're welcome! Anything to help! :) There's quite a few endings, although I'm a bit conflicted about the "all tragedy" part. Someone please just add a secret ending. Play at your pace is my tip, lest the emotions get too strong. Your job sounds really neat, by the way!

I was lucky not to deal with any technical issues the first time, but the second time and fourth time I had a severe case. It's also a bit too easy to accidentally delete a save. I also think there were some fundamental misunderstandings of the text in the story, which slightly hampered my enjoyment. I posted a more comprehensive review (from a storytelling angle) on a group, but I might post it as an actual review soon time. It still made me quite emotional, which is impressive.

You're welcome! Ahhhh, thank you so much! You're too kind! I hope you also have a great day and get to play as many indie video games as you can :)

Thank you for this. I read this post/thread after being presented with what seemed like a final decision that wouldn't end well either way, and decided to quit the game. That would not have been what I needed right now, or possibly ever... I had some hope that it was possible to create an ok ending at least, but I guess I should have known better. Very beautiful visuals, though.
