Now, I also am having trouble getting the tilt controls to work. I've managed to do it by unplugging my USB Xbox 360 controller and plugging my DualShock 4 in via USB. I totally get that we're barely 24 hours from release, but I'd love for this game in its next patch to be able to:
1) Have the Dualshock 4 tilt controls work when connected via bluetooth (Steam still recognizes it as a DS4 when connected this way, so logically the game could, too)
2) Have the in-game option to select controller rather than just having "pad" (seems to make it so that all gamepads have simultaneous connection, so that when the game rumbles it rumbles all controllers). This also would prevent limiting the control options to those that work with non-gyro gamepads when they're also connected.
The steam big picture config to use the gyro manually isn't terrible, but I prefer the native tilt controls in the game. Think we can get those issues fixed?
Thanks again for remembering your PC fans!
So it's like I have to choose between XInput emulation and USB.
Anyone got it working with DS4 over Bluetooth?
Do you use Sony dongle or your built-in or different Bluetooth receiver?
And do you use updated DS4 (with additional light bar) or the original DS4?
(I have original DS4 and built-in (not Sony) Bluetooth receiver. This might be part of DS4 original compatibility issues.)
So tilt mode is available only via USB for me. I'm not familiar with how it should work on PS4, but after some playing around I think I'm better of with Left Stick input.
The game doesn't use steaminput api, and only supports xinput and native ds4 through libscepad.dll
tilt is only enabled in the game when the ds4 is detected, and when you connect the ds4 with bluetooth, it turns on the lightbar, and inits it without the sixaxis. if you just hook up with usb and default windows drivers, the lightbar will be off, and flower can use libscepad.dll to init it and turn the lightbar on.
If you use default bluetooth, the audio jack and the rumble and tilt are disabled, because they are part of sony's proprietary variant of bluetooth.
you actually have to use the sony one to use tilt, headphones, and rumble. without that, libscepad.dll can only detect it if you use it wired.
This is the truth.
Not even big picture can bypass this. you MUST hook it wired or using the official adapter.
Best comment. This should be marked as an answer.
Thanks!
I appreciate having someone who knows the technical side of drivers comment. That said, if this is true, how is that when in Big Picture mode, if you enable the steaminput api support for the DualShock 4, that Steam can detect motion controls, use rumble, etc? I don't think Valve paid Sony for access to their proprietary variant of bluetooth. Even if they did, DS4Windows appears to support the same features and it seems even less likely that they would have come to any similar agreement. Yet somehow they get motion controls to work just fine. Are you certain there's no way for this game to do something similar?
While I'm thinking about it, has anyone tried using the Steam Controller with this game? It's got wireless gyro - does the game support tilt controls when it's connected?
Well, I was hoping for a support without a wrapper like DS4Windows, but guess that's something. Interestingly, it seems Steam added a profile for DualShock 4 that recognizes motion controls over bluetooth and feeds it to the game as if it's d-pad/ joystick input. So if you go into menus, the control style is "pad" instead of "tilt" but motion controls work just fine.
