- It easier to use the buttons on the keyboard (quicker reaction)
- pressing the left and right key at the same time ensures a greater chance of hitting the ball
- The space bar reloads the ball
- Try to hit the ball with the middle of the left paddle. It's the best way to hit it right into all the bumpers and rack up points quicker
- I got lucky and didn't need to, but you should definitely try the close out and relaunch method that STEVE is talking about.
- Overall though, it's mostly chance. It's much more annoying than a real pinball game because the ball likes to fall in that automatic losing space on the left half the time.
10th Attempt, I got 28000. I think I figured it out
1. It is a lot of luck, sometimes the ball will careen straight to the middle and never hit the paddle.
2. Use the right paddle to hit the ball with the end. This sends it into the bumpers. (If you hit it in the middle, it will hit a wall and bounce back into the abyss)
3. Using the left paddle, try to aim to hit it in the middle to reach bumpers OR...
4. You can hold down the left bumper button to keep it elevated. If the bumper is up and the ball is resting on the paddle 3/4 up. You can quickly release+hit again to send it straight into the top left tunnel. Then it will fall onto the triangle above the left paddle. If it goes left: repeat trick. If it goes right, you might be able to catch it with left, or it will bounce to the right (see hint 2).
THANK YOU! I wished there was a bump key, but didn't think of trying B!
Some more maybe-tips:
1) The B key lets you shimmy the ball UPWARDS out of the side gutters! This MASSIVELY reduces the annoying randomness of it all. But carries great risks...
2) When the ball is circling the drain from the gutters, is seems like you might have a chance to knock it back up onto one of the paddles. Like, if it's sliding down the left gutter, you can raise the left paddle out the way, hit bump, and it MIGHT bump up onto the tip of the right paddle.
DON'T TRY THIS.
The ball disappears down the drain, AND THEN ROLLS OUT ACROSS THE FLOOR!!!!

Rather than a deliberate "tilt" mechanism, I'm pretty sure this is a bug (it has been reported in other threads and the Pinball guide), since there's no code to handle this case: the ball now won't appear in the launch chute, so you can't continue playing... but I kinda really hope they don't directly "fix" it, and instead just detect it and add mocking dialog about it!
3) If you don't care about time and are just trying to grind this one last achievement, then if your first couple of balls suck (maybe less than 2,000 with the first, 4,000 with the second?), then let all the other balls just run out without trying to catch/flap them, then at the end of the pinball game, just hit to retry it. You don't want to score more than 4500 or so, or you "win" and can't retry. Retrying takes 30 minutes of in-game time, but is faster in real time than if you'd scored a little better and had to Alt-F4 to close the whole LaterAlligator game and restart it.
4) Equally, if your score is over 4500 at any point, you might as well TRY. You're gonna have to quit to desktop and restart anyway, so might as well get a few seconds of practice in first, and might get lucky.
5) You can speed up restarting the game by going into your "C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\LaterAlligator\LaterAlligator_Data\StreamingAssets" (note that your Steam Games install folder might not be in "C:\Frogram Files", but if not, you probably know where you stuck it: mine's E:\Games, for example).
Once in there, back up these files and replace them with zero length files:
This will shorten the 11 seconds of unskippable logos down to 6 seconds, and also shorten the 33 second skippable startup anim down to 3. Whether this is worth the time you spend doing it is debatable, though :)
You can always swap them back when you're done grinding this achievement.
(I also tried: just deleting the files; replacing them with zero-length files; and replacing them with an edited version of this file that was truncated down to 1 second. All these just caused the game to hang at a black screen, and it needed to be killed, so the above is the best I could do).
6) If you have AutoHotkey, remapping bump to the up cursor and launch to the down cursor may make the controls a little more intuitive, something like:
Personally I went for WSAD, and space to bump, though (means have to use S to skip dialog):
...at this point, I've spent hours on this and the best I've got is 14200. So... close... :(
Here's the log of scores from the last 26 games I played, to finally get it.

17,450 -- ACHIEVEMENT!
Note that it toes not trigger until you click the NEXT button after winning the game: so if you don't notice you got it, and instead restarted the game thinking you'd won it with a lower score, you won't get the achievement!
