I also enjoy having a mix of friends and strangers (to spice the game up)
What I've found is the only stable way is to make a password, then make sure your friends are in the game, then throw the password into the public lobby chat and let strangers join
Yes that's fair enough, and a good suggestion - however, it's still a bit clunky. It would be nice if we could communicate within the game room, and let people change their factions around at least.

Thank you for the response, it's great to hear the devs are taking community feedback onboard; I hope you guys will consider my suggestion.
That said, I know it would take time to do and I would much rather have the next expension and a 6 player game than some more options in the lobby.
