Crossplay with Nintendo Switch

Basically, I'm interested in this game, but my friend that I play a lot of board games with would prefer to buy it on Switch, so how does the online work? Is there an account, or?

Is crossplay possible between this and Switch? Has anyone tried?

Okay, but *how* does the crossplay work, do we make an account? How do I invite a player on Switch to play with me or vice versa. There are a lot of games that say "cross platform" and then aren't cross platform with Switch and it's restricted online setup.

I can't confirm this myself, but a player needs to create a Direwolf Digital account to play online. Once that's done you generally just create a match (with a password if you want to invite specific players) and other players will be able to view a list of lobbies, find the one with your username, and join.

I'm often jumping between PC an iOS and it's a pretty smooth transition.

In my experience thus far, this is not the case, at least between Switch and Steam. My friend and I both bought this game at the same time, he on Switch, me on Steam on my MacBook Pro. We both created accounts and added eachother. After a week, we've never seen eachother online, nor can we send invites to eachother. All I can see are his points on the leaderboard. Can you respond to this?
