Is it possible to play multiplayer with friends nowadays?

I've bought the History Edition and now my friends is considering buying it too, but only if we can play together. It can be either via LAN or some other ways online. Can someone please confirm if it's possible? I'm concerned because I can't even open my CONTACTS menu (around my profile image) because it does nothing. So I'm not sure how it'd be possible.

Yes, it is possible to play multiplayer with friends in The Settlers 7: History Edition. If both you and your friends have the History Edition, you can play together online.

Im have the same issue as Mark. The ingame "contacts" button, and "Invite" button is not working. nothing happends when we click it. The guide you linked is for hardware issues. This is a software issue.
