Same here, some options can't be changed. Can't turn on occlusion, shadows, even on low, ice reflections, and change terrain setting to high.. Even though I am on a decent laptop that runs fine last strategy games on high settings, like total war warhammer 2, three kingdoms, xcom 2 and other stuff. Don't know, maybe it's a problem with integrated graphics, or video card driver...
Didn't find a solution for this.

Same. The problem is UBI.

This is a very common problem. For some reason, the original creators of the game thought it was a good idea to save people the effort of finding the highest settings their system could handle by blacking out options that they thought would pose problems.
However, they had never accounted for computers as powerful as those we have today, resulting in the game inccorectly asserting that our pcs are trash and therefore blacking out the highest settings.
I contacted Ubisoft customer support about this some time ago but I don't think they have listened, as was to be expected. I'll try again, though, and should anything come out of it, I'll let you know.

Great, thanks! We will be waiting for your response.

Theoreticly you could change your settings in some files located in your settlers-folder.
At one day I was looking into them and I found some stuff there, but I don't know if it works by changing it there.
Also: Be sure to be sure what you are doing; We don't know if and how this can harm your game.

The only solution I've found is to configure W10 to use the graphics integrated, an intel HD 4400, with this game. Settlers V is an old game, so it works perfectly.

Interesting solution. Would you mind briefly outlining how to do that?

I think the nvidia/amd/intel control panel can be used, but this solution is easier:

Sadly, it would seem that my computer only has one GPU. Thanks for the tip, though. It looks very promising for people that do have that

I found out it has something to do with the Minor Driver version.
For Nvidia it is: If your gragiccard minor version is somewhere between (I think) 4000 and 5000 the game recognizes that, puts the lowest everywhere and deactivates some stuff such as the ice-texture for me.
That all can be fixed by getting another version which has a higher or lower minor version then 4000 to 5000.
So you can wait until Nvidia brings out a new driver which fits into that or you go for an older one.

The problem is not from nVidia, it is from UBI since the game was released, who know the problem and do not want to solve it.

UBI must be solved the problem, not a specific version of the Nvidia drivers.

but that IS the problem. And just saying: Ubisoft is NOT the developer. It is only the publisher; Blue byte studios is the developer blame them.

And I said a solution and a way how to fix this and what the actuall problem is. so YOU know what the issue is.

And not like you blaming them I tried already to fix it by doing reverse engineering stuff hoping that it works and I am still not done yet.

I have to rectify you, the developer is "Ubisoft Blue Byte". Since 2001 Blue Byte is part of UBI, is not an independent company, so UBI has responsibility for it.

nVidia is now in version 4259 (minor version), how many years does it need to reach 5000?

The solution I posted for those who have 2 graphics cards is the best solution in those cases. The graphics control center can also be used, but I haven't investigated it. Those who have only a graphics card will greatly appreciate a user patch that fixes it, sure.

And it is not the only bug in the game, at least in the Spanish version. I have had to modify some files in order to pause the game, and in the second expansion many voices of the characters from the first expansion are not included. I don't know if the other languages have the same problems.

I'm not very happy with UBI, no.

Then type to their support or to the Nvidia support so they can take care of it.
(Nvidia is a very competent support as I found out once again yesterday, maybe you can ask them or give them a hint on that so they could fix it by just avoiding these numbers)

I just made clear what the problem is. You can decide how you wanna fix it.

I've contacted UBI support 4 times, the first time years ago, with the Pause key bug and some sound problems. I'm still waiting for a answer. Silence is the answer. And I know that I'm not the only one who has written to the Support about the graphic settings problem.

I've also contacted nVidia (yeah, they are very competent support). They can't fix it because it's not a graphic driver bug, it's bad developer programming and UBI must solve the problem.
