When you open the Texteditor you can an empty sheet as well.
The Editor is not broken, you just need to know what you have to do.
There are several forums on the internet (mostlikely in german but you can ask in english, they will answer you) where you can ask and look for templates.
Also if you mean that you can not see the skripts beside the fact in the mapfolder are skripts you can not see them because the mapeditor shows you the MapScript.lua only; not all the other files like in the campaign which are outsourced to other scripts and loaded via IncludeLocals("<Scriptname").
One last thing (actually two but that belongs to the legend editor to start it up without freezing) you won't be able to use the S5Hook in the History Edition due to another adress-room than in the gold edition so it won't work. But everything else works completly fine.
At the moment I am pressing x to doubt because the video I posted shows otherwise, and almost all of what you said I have no clue what you are going on about.
If you know what you are talking about, consider creating a Youtube video of how to use the Map Editor and explaining what you are going on about, because the rest of us have no clue.

When he presses next, a script is then generated, it even says in the actual Map Editor for you to verify the script has been written lol.
That script that get's generated has all of the .lua for your current mission.

indeed the skript is missing there, but you can copy paste it from the campaign maps. They have the same template just with other values. You go into your settlers directory-> base -> shr ->maps -> campaign -> main -> <decide which map you would like to take> -> MapScript.lua. There you can copy paste and edit it afterwards.
To the existing maps: If you start the mapeditor without parameters you start the base-game editor which is not supposed to be for legend or expansion maps. That is the reason it shows it can't be loaded. You must create a shortcut of the exe-file in the bin-folder of the game and add the parater -extra1 for the expansion (the one with kala) and -extra2 for the legendspack. Then you can also open the other map, including all ingame maps because the History Edition editor can open folders as well so you can look for example on thalgrund or on folklung or on the kerberos-campaign or the frozen Fjord. Keep in mind. Skripts made by Bluebyte are outsourced, so don't forget to check the mapfolder itself for all the lua-scripts.
Last thing to the legend editor: You might not open it. it freezes because there are files that can not be handled. For that you have to go to extra2/shr/MapEditor/LandscapeSets/CustomSet.xml and delete this file. Then it should work again.
If you are wondering from where I know everything of this I am on a discord where we skript, mod, play and communicate about these things and I am one of the few if not the onliest who also brings these informations to the History Edition and trys to help everybody as far as I can.
Edit: The Template is in /base/shr/Script/MapTools/MapScript.lua It is empty so don't get confused by copy pasting it from other maps.
