dog finding items??

has anyone had their dog find items for them yet? I take him for walks while I head out fishing but haven't had any yet, was thinking maybe it's a heart thing or me just getting unlucky

probably a heart thing, mine is on 2 hearts and he always stayed put where i left him =(

I think it's a luck thing - my dog found an item for me with less than 2 hearts. I ended up reloading in order to catch a festival but when I went back to the same place and called them they didn't find anything and haven't found anything for me since :<

It's possible the greater your friendship the higher the chances of you finding an item but I'm not sure, I also have no idea if there's a set amount of items they can find since the one my dog found belonged to a specific person.

Hmm if it's luck then straight i up have the worst luck, been bringing my dog out every night and he's on 4 hearts currently :(

Did you per chance have to stop for the do to then find something? Or was you just moving and the dog randomly barked?

do we also need to be in the farm map for a longer period of time maybe? i never stayed longer than what it takes to water all my crops, so that could also be it?

I did have to stop - when I called it onto the map I was on it didn't bark or run to a spot until it had caught up with me.
