I'm not sure if it's needed, but before he came the next day and gave them to me I walked in the town hall in the afternoon and unlocked another scene. In that scene, the mayor was talking about giving me back some of the gadgets if I kept working hard. You might need to unlock that scene first.

I think you might have to ship a certain number of crops before you get the gloves.

Not sure the trigger but I got him to come at summer when the dog cutscene happened in spring. Friendship + farming seems to be the most likely reason.

He rewards you for doing a good job on the farm, atleast that's what he says in the scene.

For me I had over 50 crops in the spring and 1 of each animal (except horse).

So maybe have a look at how much your producing and if you have atleast one of each animal???

i can confirm that you don't need a sheep to trigger it.

But what about the other animals? I am nearing end of spring and wanted to wait to invest in animals untill I had a pretty decent crop farm going.

i believed that you have to "sow" 300 seeds(maybe 250 since i plant 96 seeds in single day and get them the next day) to and trigger event in front of mayor manor
