I just got mine and it's pretty great!
Overall though, I disagree with you about it not feeling rewarding. I'm almost done with summer and so far it's been really tough to make enough money and to upgrade my tools to gold, all the while slowly leveling up everyone's friendship to get new powers and cutscenes. Is it the best harvest moon style game ever? No. Is it bad? I don't think so personally.
That is a standard thing. Winning a festival you got more friendship point in general but that doesn't make it rewarding.
exspecially the stew festival, you get no left overs to bring home. And even though you ate in the cutscene, you get no stamina back.... like wtf?
also 2 yams (2star) apparently made everyone sick, so I lost out on money :(
Making then into 5 star again its valid though but only to send them to the Seed Maker since 1 crop = 3 seeds. So for every 27 crops you plant, 9 of those should be upped to 5 star for the seed maker.
Regrowth crops are worser since they lose half a star or a whole star on the second AND third harvest, mostly useful to stock for recipes since star rating DOES NOT affect stamina recovery, only price for selling.
Also making/getting everything to 5 star at least once just to get the completition in the item logs with a gold crown.
