gravity is too light...
Usually good.
Just one ... gravity is too light!

The rate of falling from the sky is too slow. It's so unreal. Acceleration is too fast!

Do you think I'm only unrealistic?

Most quadcopters will fly unrealistically if you catch the game standards based on the high quality quadcopter of professional players.

Their quadcopter is set to the best condition possible to fly as fast and stable as possible. But the actual 99% quad-copters do not.

The reason for the simulator is to adapt to reality flight. But this is just game.

Thank you for your feedback! Alot of pilots have said it feels very realistic to the real life DCL Drones, we have documented your feedback! Thank you!

vfbank, you have to understand that this is not a real simulator. A real simulator defines a finite element, puts it in an environment, then applies physics to it in response to any motion or input. That is real simulation, not just modeling. The drawback is that it is complex and resource intensive and thus difficult to run in realtime, especially given that the motion of a drone is specifically complex. Instead what happens in these games (all of them) is that the physics is modeled into an algorithm that is then tied to the input controls. So that for any input you get an immediate approximation of real world behavior. Its a necessary evil. The catch 22 is that at minimal throttle input, you get minimal physics. This is why all the drone simulators have terrible gravity feel. Because when you let off the throttle you are reducing the application of the physics model. Below a certain cutoff, inertia, gravity, momentum, etc, are going to feel like they're not there because they aren't. Likewise, if the game buffers or loses a frame, the physics are compromised and will continue to lag until the buffer catches up or resets. You've likely experienced this but couldn't quite pin down exactly what was happening. It is what it is. With time I imagine they'll be able to dial it in better. Some of the other simulators have improved in this area over time. But nobody tells you this because they want you to believe you are playing a real simulator, and not a 'mostly accurate model'. But that's the reality. Probably won't change much, but overall for a demo the game looks promising. I love the tracks, and for the most part the flying is smooth and predictable. But you're not wrong about these shortcomings. Its just easier said than done. Give it time.

DutchFPV thanks for your input, but I have to disagree - Velocidrone does a pretty good job of simulating gravity / weight, whereas DCL has a problem in this regard: I immediately found this to be an issue when I purchased it a few days ago. After a few days I can say that I REALLY like a lot of things about DCL over others, but the lack of gravity is forcing me to adapt to a situation which is more unreal than other simulators, and very different from real life in terms of gravity. The drone basically just hangs in the air weightless and drops about as fast as a feather when you release the sticks. That, and the fact that I am getting random crashes before I even fly, navigating the menus. Looking forward to how the developers address these issues in this great game.

yeah the graphics are awesome but the gravity, cmon....tbh i wanted to get a refund once tested for an hour ... :(

i agree. Gravity doesnt feel like the real thing. Especially with zero throttle

Sadly have to agree, had to delete the game myself as it can hardly call itself a dronesim. Its decent racing game, but have nothing to do with how real quad behaves, gravity feels like the tracks are built on the moon.

what you are perceiving is likely due to the higher inertia of a 800 grams drone and a FOV you are not used to
try to fly with the lightweight drone and activate the 2.5 mm lens with FPV camera distortion, it should feel much more familiar

Perhaps, my lightest quad is 580g 7inch(4s1300mah battery included), but still, quads in DCL feels like they are made from some scifi antigravity material. If felt bit werid when i tried to freestyle one of the maps and made a little test. With 0 horizontal speed i punched out and zeroed the throttle. Untill initial burst of speed bled out, it felt right, however, what happened afterwards was ridiculous, it take eternity till the quad falls all the way to the ground(actualy it falls at a speed of feather falling down). I tought ok, perhaps they are using some ridiculous idle speed value, and tried it next time, now with camera pointed to the ground to make sure idle throttle is not slowing down the fall. Same result. Sorry, you made decent race game, but have nothing to do with flying real thing.

To further confirm my feeling - im able to pull the moves im not able to do in any other sim or real life, as gravity turned off is just OP cheat.

Game feels like a super light 3" - perhaps 4", compared to my 6s merica 5" this feels like heavy drones going in slow motion, and vastly underpowered compared to what I'm used to in RL. But its not that far from how I set up my massive droner 3" in feel just a little bit lighter as the 3" has less hang time then the sim.

Note: My merica 5" falls comparably perhaps even slower and goes almost twise as fast as this, I dont freestyle however so cant really comment on that part.

consider that for the 2019 season of DCL we used the game to do the qualifications for the real races, reconstructing with high precision the same tracks that we would fly on the real races.
generally, the pilots would get 10-15% faster times in the sim compared to the real races on the same track.
the drones are intentionally under powered in DCL by ruleset

lol of course they did, there's no risk of destroying their drones so they can fly as recklessly as they want to

also if you go on Proptown and cut the throttle when you're in line with the tops of the buildings, the drone drops like a balloon, so the gravity or at least the physics are wrong
