really sad to see this game die when it looks and feels fun (mostly)
It really sucks as top down shooters are something of a guilty pleasure of mine but i can never seem to find some good ones to play. This game is very fun with a cool concept and i will continue to play but it is really unfortunate that more people didn't give it a try. I also can understand the opposite perspective with the many skill gap problems that were present at launch, that being said it still sucks for everyone involved.

The devs are pretty stuck on their vision and sadly it just slightly misses the mark, pair that with their rude community manager lady and ya know... hope they find a way to turn the ship around, a free 2 play model is likely the only solution.

At this point I don't even think ftp will gather a consistent community base to even warrant future updates. I really am mad about it as this was a good game it just had some pretty bad balancing moments.

Game needs to have a PVE side, just not enough PVP only players out there.

I agree

No anticheat, small dev team, overpriced for what it is, durability on guns that can and WILL ♥♥♥♥ you over at some point in your run, AND the fact that the game is trying to be too many genres at once are all a recipe for disaster. Not surprised the game died, just disappointed. The game woulda been better as a single player/coop based roguelike.

Rude Community Manager? care to explain? I've only come to play the game recently through a friend and I just recently followed their twitter but haven't seen any posts.

I really hope they will add a PVE mode before it's too late. The concept and the atmosphere of this game are spot on but you can't just rely on PVP with an indie game like that. In some areas matchmaking is long af

Had so mch hope for this game when I first noticed it on an indie game website couple years ago. Followed ever since and knew the game needed a little more adjusting at release so I didnt purchase plus, games were not a priority at the time so waited a couple months and my worst fear for the game is coming true :(

Really enjoyed the game for a while but hardly anyone plays it. Their discord was also terrible: Medium fish in a tiny pond sort of energy. ZERO Sievert ended up taking it's place for me.

PVE coop and price.
If it was a great game about entering a city, killing devlish and strong monsters, to then loot the hell out of this place as it grows more dangerous over time, to leave at the right moment before the area gets overrun by monsters, i would buy it in a heartbeat.
But the way it is right now plus its price, its a no go or only if at a large sale.
Yet, it still would be focussing on PvP too much and i think thats a problem these loot extractor games need to overcome at one point.
Its really NOT the PvP that creates the fun and tension in these games.

Im playing Tarkov and such because of the fun experience and PvE when looting.
Im having fun despite the PvP, not because of it.
Getting a game out that has a fun PvE concept, with coop and the loot extraction, would possibly be a big seller.

they dont seem to listen to the fans at all (even though they did take the pitch of the moltovs and flashes i gave them on the discord, or maybe they already had that in the pipeline..)

My two cents; they overnerfed and changed things too quickly. It was a rocky launch to begin with, barely 1000 players. Thats fine. I said at the start they should reach out to some big 'tubers or something to generate hype and vision, nobody knew the game existed. Then they built up a base of what i'd say were fairly hardcore players, who loved the challenge and concept of a tarkov esque system. Then a couple of people complained they died at low levels, and the nerfs began. Barely any time for actual test data to be relevant, and each patch dropped the playerbase. It was sad to watch the steam analytics drop.

I don't think theres much chance of revival at this stage. It's a shame, I genuinely loved this game, it was a passion project with a lot of fun. Hopefully the devs use this as a learning curve, and I truly wish them the best of success in future endeavors.
Yeah, smgs and ARs got heavily nerfed for no reason. They were decent "hold m1" weapons but there were far, far stronger options. Buff to shotguns that makes them something more than just a meme happened at same time while also nerfing Lloyd range that is now near same as Chapman and you know what happens...

While 1k players is achievement on its own for a ambitious MP game from people you never heard about its also initial pop which always decreases greatly after short time so you need to expect actual playerbase to be as low as few % of this which is why you really want launch players to be as high as possible, no reconnect and around month of cheaters ruining experience did not help.

Some changes like dying when sleeping, durability, butchering mushrooms really make you wish they would ask community for opinions so they can see flaws they have missed like kicking newbies in the gut with most of updates by making their lives harder...

How often high/medium progression players sleep? Once they die usually. How often newbies sleep? All the time. Combo that with butchered stat system and you need to hypergrind speed pills or be at mercy of higher progress players at all times because getting max speed in single raid is not so easy anymore and if you try to go shrooms you no longer can fix the drawbacks without sleeping really which you will need to do for quests so once again you are behind on stats while higher progress players will have stockpiles of last few good mushroom types and dozens of speed pills.

Game still can make a comeback but it needs surge of players badly if its meant to be true to its PvPvE nature.

can't rely only on pve either lol, i don't get this whole "make the game pve" or "need pve mode to make the game survive" mentality

Because the game has no focus. The PvP is weak, and so is the PvE lmfao. My argument is they need to get one aspect right before worrying about the other. There's not really that interesting or good of loot either to fight over compared to games like EFT.
"a free 2 play model is likely the only solution."
Welp, you might be right. HiO is going to be free for a week on Epic at the end of this month. Might see a surge in players, though that really bums me out as I paid for the game.
