Is this game supposed to be unbalanced?
If you only got a starter weapon everyone else is just steamrolling you, and the elevator call is super loud so all swarm to you and kill you before he arrives or just block it.

Its one thing to sneak around and avoid stuff, but the elevater call needs a bit more thinking i guess, no way to avoid it as people can just block it with better weapons. Means you dont get ♥♥♥♥ most of runs, which is super beginner unfriedly and frustrating.

Also whats money for if the shopkeepers in the city dont talk with you?

Hi there! Thanks for the feedback; much appreciated :)

We are working on balancing. Matchmaking is made on the players' level. There might have been moments when there were not so many players, so you have been matched with higher-skilled ones. We are working on better balancing the game even in that situations!

Regarding the shops, you'll need to unlock them by completing missions. You should be able to unlock the gun shop (that is the first unlockable one) within the first hours of playing.
You will also unlock the bank, in which you can deposit and keep your money safe.

First hours?
I already did about 10 tries and never made it back alive.
I'm not really sure if I would even me able to make it back alive even if there weren't any players around.
If I try to leave to elevator early, there are always campers there, and if I wait for later, the monsters always get me.
Even after today's update, the game still seems incredible hard for new players.

I have played for 2 hours and have made it back 5 times safely and finished 2 missions.
Learn to run away.

It sounds like you may be standing and fighting too much. Your first instinct when faced with danger should be to run away. Never start or stay for a fair fight. If you're not ambushing someone or something then you shouldn't be trading blows with it.
Yggdrasil Burnes Oct 9, 2022 @ 12:32am
Your first priority is to survive. Your second priority should be to find a good gun. Your third priority is to bump up your stats with pills and mushrooms. Your fourth priority is to clear missions. There's this guy, I think his name is Piori or Pori, he's been map sweeping for the past few days. Has a machine gun and beastmode stats. You can't hide or run from him, and he's got enough health to tank several weaboo katana slashes and several shotgun blasts. He's not invincible, but he's pretty damn close, and I think it's entirely because he horfed down every single mushroom and pill he could find before finding that gun.

Though, with guys like that running about, it might be easier said than done now.

lmao I havent heard bootlicking used as a response to good game advice.

If you are sprinting they cant shoot you because you're so fast. Zig zag through buildings basically always escapes. Bullets only travel about a screen so sprinting away also escapes bullets so they have to chase. Dodges grant I frames. Shoot out a window while running but dont always jump through it, they wont know what direction you went.

How are monsters getting you? They are so slow. You can literally just walk away from them. The only time I have died to a monster was when I had inverted controls, half smell, and leaping removed (streamer debuffs are stupid hard)

you realize since the games only been out for like 3 days, we are ALL new players, play smarter
The Rat from Tarkov Oct 24, 2022 @ 12:09am
So I learned how to play tarkov solo, which I guess is a bit unrealistic compared to most people. But this game, what you are talking about, is soooooo much easier then tarkov. A lot of the challenges are still the same as tarkov, but on such an easier scale. It is made for solos. And it is made so you can loot and explore and find the traders and quest without being completely timid and rat like.

There IS a balancing problem, which you will see if you watch the high level streamers (who also play tarkov lol.) which is that this game is a rogue lite, and the mushrooms and pills that you eat give you stat boosts until you die. So you can max out your stats and out tank, and chase anybody. In that case they are screwed, tbey won't even be able to drink a soda to escape.

However, in 16 hours in 2 days, I have not run into this. Sometimes I get jumped by somebody with a scent blocker but my deaths have been whiffed. With the vast majority of players being pretty new, you shouldn't run into this issue yet. You should be able to survive long enough to have good enough stats to be ahead of the curve.

Explosives and grenades will kill these players, and then their stats will be back down to zero. So go slow, save your stamina, use explosives.

Maybe just save the explosives for the guys you think are the evil grinders even consider kamakazing. Because if you take them down with you that's one less grinder chad on the servers as tbey will have to start at zero stats again, which is more important then their access to guns and money.

Eat mushrooms max out your smell so you can tell where people are before they can smell you, (which gives heartbeat) and then AVOID them.

You hear the heart beat, you stop. Slow walk away until the heartbeat fades and book it away, then make sure your stamina Reagens. (Just make sure you don't run into a direction where you heard shots or you can get 3rd partied with no stamina)

The other stats (run speed, endurance (tankiness) etc are more for pvp. But if you can't even figure out how to read the map and don't have the game knowledge to learn how to extract safely, that should be your priority, not pvp. It is doable in this game, easy even maybe not for you but coming from tarkov these extractions are cake..

Then, by learning that and eating mushrooms and pills whenever you find them, which you need to EXTRACT and do this through many raids, then your stats will get buffed that you can start learning pvp, and you will have many of the advantages you are so sad you don't have off the gate, which will make the PVP much easier for you. Basically just by surviving, assuming you are eating every pill you find, and whatever mushrooms to tweak your build, pvp will get much easier.

There is a food chain, and it's not just who has the bigger gun is better. It's who has survived the longest and has eaten the right mushrooms and pills is the top of the food chain. You can easily beat someone who has a better gun if your hp and stamina are twice theirs.

Start making better bullets right away and use guns you find with your better bullets. If you want you can then sell these guns on the junk day that allows you too for like 5k a pop. So I use the guns and sell them, get the best of both worlds. Check wardrobes and bedstands, there are guns and katanas in them.

Also map knowledge in these games is king. You go from lost lamb to man with a plan.

One other thing, you have a quest for each trader which unlocks the trader to buy things later once you're rich. They give rewards. Some of these are very good. Like bullet fertilizers and good guns.

You can hand the required items in to these traders, and then press escape. Don't take the reward. The reward will stay at the traders and this can act as extra inventory.

So like I don't want to pick up the lmg and machine gun I get from deacon when I have 10 hp for example.

The quest that gives the good bullet fertilizers I want to pick that up on a day when I want to set up my pot (an early quest reward not the main plant) to put them right in the pot so I don't waste them and I will make some amazing bullets.

You even prioritize which quests to do. Like when I first started I was too scared to waste bullets and didn't want to hand them in at the clay shop and spent days without my bullet farming pot. No bueno.

You can even restart your account at about level 5 or so once you start to understand the items in the game and what they do as you can do things much more efficiently and optimize, but this time you know the map better. Some people say this is rediculous but I kind have ocd with games and like to be on top of it and know what im doing, so I did this personally.

Seconding that notion. Starting over again can be really useful.
I did it because of a bug back then which caused me to lose progress (luckily something thats fully resolved), but I didnt regret it in the end. I lost ~1 day of playtime and progress, but hey, I learned valuable things in that time.
When I started from scratch again and understood the game better, I could play much more efficient right off the bat and that helps a lot with getting a good start into the game.

Another thing I might want to add:
As the Tarkov Rat said, in th beginning eat Mushrooms and Medicine whenever you can.
BUT mind that there is a max cap for every stat. Always keep an eye out on which stats you have already maxed and dont eat mushrooms for that stat anymore once you did until you lose some % of that stat from other mushrooms again.
