Do you think this game has lore? ((SPOILERS))
I think so. This might be just the prolouge or the introduction to another game or another media they're making.(SPOILERS UP AHEAD. Seriously, better to play the game than for me to spoil it for you.Everything will be in spoiler text, sorry bout that.)
My theroy is this:
Even one of the achivements has something to do with reality and apperance. The girl we're playing as is probably just like Monika from Doki Doki! She know's that she's in an repeating reality. The more we repeat, the more the game warps. Refrencing back to the "Apperance or Reality" achivement, the girl we're playing as (who im going to call suki ) can't structure her appearnce anymore. Something like that. She's stuck in a warp of reality and once and for all, she's decided not to follow anymore. Reason why the game crashes instead of just repeating. It may or may not be obvious that she's in a group/gang and she's that serial kiler you see in the newspaper. The white text talking to us may be her. In the (almost) final lines of the game, the text states that this is what we wanted, we kept on repeating and repeating until we got the sasifaction. To me, the voice sounds a tad bit angry, or i'm maybe mistaking that for no emotion. Anyways, Suki here know's she's being played over and over again. Maybe thats why she's telling us/the player to go to the backyard of all places. She knows what to do. Either she's already got everything planned out or shes thinking of new ideas as you play along.

I am still under the idea that Suki is looking for revenge. In her diary, she wrote about a creepy man who was stalking her. If you noticed the date of the diary and the newspaper outside on the front door, today would be her murder day. In a previous life, she probably got shot by the red hair boy, and I also noticed that the boy also stole the gun from the safe. So, she is trying to exact revenge by shooting him first. Also, in a secret clip, there is a scene of Suki being reincarnated and repeated back into this world for veagence.

There are many quotes that still confuse me:
-The yellow hair girl with a dog apparently has a much bigger role, which means I feel like the game still isn't quite done
-The secret scene all but explains what probably occured, but the grim reaper in it wants a part of her....I still don't have enough clues to help me figure this out

@davidzhang148 Oh, when did you see that the boy stole the gun? I totally missed that.

I think the yellow-haired girl simply represents what Suki really wants - where she wanted her life to lead before being murdered. If you look on the store page, one of the screenshots is of her pushing the yellow-haired girl on a swing hanging from the tree in the backyard. This scene is not in the game, so I think it is very poignant that it's on the store page. Here we see that horrible tree where she needs to sacrifice the boy in order to fulfill her agreement. But it's how Suki would like to see it instead, with a lovely swing, playing with her beautiful friend.

One of the biggest themes of the story is Suki's loneliness. Her mother leaves her at home alone all day every day, and she is not allowed to leave (although she mentions in her diary that she WAS leaving the house, hence how she first saw the yellow-haired girl and met the red-haired man). But then she can't find the girl again, and her mother forces her to stay indoors, but it's already too late as the man knows where she lives.

So I think she's not trying to exact revenge on the little boy, but trying to make a friend...as messed up as that is. She is dead, so she wants him to be dead with her. She even says, before telling him to hang himself, something like "before beginning, promise you will become one of us, so we can play". She is just as lonely in death as she was in life, and all she wants is to play with the yellow-haired girl and her chihuahua, but the demon will not allow it. So she desperately wants the boy to die, and go through the same grim reaper experience she did, to come back and play with her forever in this time-loop.

I'm going to put my stock with Rae's analysis. Of all the "theories" floating around, I think the above comment is easily the most solid and consistent with the game's over-arching tone. Awesome stuff! :47_thumb_up:

i've read this somewhere and here's how it goes: if you go out of the house and go left, you will see a newspaper about a bugler story of a man murdering a young girl inside their home and if you enter the code 851216 (a code will get after finishing the appearance or reality ending) in between the two doors outside your room, the game will restart to a new day similar to the usual except you don't directly go to your room after your mom leaves because she gltches into the dark area instead, and you will be able to check the television which shows a blurred image of news program reporter and a photo of a man with red hair. its theorized that the girl you are playing as has already died and she made a deal with the devil to bring herself back to life to take revenge on the man. when you ask the blonde girl to come with you inside the house to play, a voice will tell you that it's not part of the agreement which is possibly the devil she's made a deal with. before you get to the end of the appearance or reality ending, a voice will ask you if "aren't you tired in choosing the same answer no matter how much it repeats?" which is the devil talking to you before you make the sacrifice the kid. then after you finally killed the boy, the voice then talks to you again, telling you to choose a more humane way to make the sacrifice.

tbh the whole game is really just how you interpret it.

the game only has a lore if you think the details mean something lol but I'm not aware it requires this much thought into it
