Cry of Fear

Silent Hill 2 has a great fan project that makes the game playable on PC, and since the pc port is abandon ware it's very easy to find.

People suggested Cry of Fear but I'd also recommend Afraid of Monsters which came before, has more of that lo fi feel you might be familiar with here.

Cry of Fear and its predecessor, Afraid of Monsters, are both free, although I find them a bit jankier and more challenging, sometimes to the point of frustration. They're absolutely worth playing, though. Also, definitely play the Silent Hill games, especially Silent Hill 2 and 3. I played both for the first time lately, and they still hold up as horror masterpieces. I also recommend Darkwood for a more survival focused experience, and World of Horror if you like scary turn-based RPGs.

Silent Hill 1 to 3. That's actually the only ones that are similar to this one, and vice versa. Other games like Cry of Fear, while not bad, have nothing on this game and are different in atmosphere and gameplay relying so much on jumpscares they become boring.

This game was heavily inspired by Silent Hill, and another game heavily inspired by it was Cry of Fear. I recommend you check the SH series out (at least the first four ones) and COF.

Keep an eye out on the upcoming game Golden Light. It looks very interesting.

Grey is pretty good, similar to CoF in terms of setting and the fact its a mod for a HL game
