[FIX] No Lockpicks Left

There is a part of the game where I got stuck because I was missing a lockpick that I couldn't retrieve.
Basically after solving the three heads puzzle and crawling trough pipes you come to the rooms with leeches and after that there is a door you have to use a lockpick on. If you have a lockpick it will break upon using it on the door and when you turn around to go away the door opens on its own. If you have NO LOCKPICKS then the door will just say "LOCKED" with no way of opening it.
Basically when your only option is to restart the game, create a new save and replay your way trough hoping not to miss any lockpicks on your way, you can instead do what I did.
It took me longer to figure this one out than it should, I could've replayed the game in that time :P

So what you have to do:

1. Launch the game and get to the point where you're missing your lockpick
   
2. Pause the game and tab out of it
   
3. Launch Regedit.exe (Microsoft Tool for Registry Editing Purposes)
   
4. Go to "Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Lag Studios\Lost in Vivo"
   
5. Find "Pick_var_h1754477294" in the entries
   
6. Right click on the name and click on the first entry in the menu ("Edit/Change", whatever it says, mine is in German so it's "Ändern")
   
7. Now a small window will open up. Check the "Decimal"-Box instead of the other one.
   
8. Now change the value on the left to how many lockpicks you need. To avoid skipping parts of the game (basically cheating lol) DO NOT add more than 1 lockpick to the value, infinite lockpicks may ruin the experience.
   
9. Click on "OK"
   
10. Close regedit and tab back into the game. You will now have an extra lockpick. No replaying required.

Now go and rescue your dog!

I must've done something wrong and broke my game. This "Fix" is basically cheating yourself an extra pick haha :P

Strange. I never had that problem. Don't they give you lockpicks before that?

Edit: Are you talking about the room with the slugs?

Leeches, slugs, whatever you want to call them, yes.
I know other people had this issue too. One guy had it during a lets-play and stopped playing because it broke the game.
They do give you lockpicks before that, but if you already have used all of yours, you use the fresh lockpicks on a door before the slug/leech area.

I had the same issue, but after walking back and forth for a minute I'd found the door opened and I just progressed normally.

Thank you so much for this! I was having this problem too! Even tried making a thread about it, not noticing this one, then right after posting saw this thread and proceeded to delete mine out of sheer embarrassment.

I mean, i appreciate the help. But i tried it, and the lockpick broke somehow. I tried giving myself another lockpick, but i could not use it, and when i stepped away from the gate, it just opened by itself. I went into the next save room, and instead of saving, it erased my save. I think the game knows you are hacking it this way, and it chooses to ♥♥♥♥ with you, so i don't recommend doing it.

For real? I was hung up on that part for about half an hour, went as far back as I could and back to the door multiple times, but it just wouldn't open by itself. In my case it really only opened when I used the lockpick I summoned. Weird...

You know upon replaying the game, i have rediscovered that it was just the part where it erases the game for funsies, followed by the fake boss fight. I was just being a ♥♥♥♥♥♥, and finished my playthrough later on, but it is funny that this game keeps messing with me years after i played it the first time.

Hahahaha yeah, it really is something. One of my favorite Indie Horror Games out there. Didn't have that part of the game in mind, it's been ages since I've played it.
