Another Sight - Hodge's Journey is a short demo/prologue story for the game Another Sight - Definitive Edition.
This was something I didn't realize until the ending.

You play as a cat called Hodge and you need to work your way through several levels by completing puzzle's
The puzzle's can be somewhat challenging, but they were fun, creative and well thought through.
The game felt heavily inspired by Trine, not only because they are both puzzle platformers, but also because of the graphics and game style in general.

I must admit that I mostly enjoyed this because of Hodge the cat!
The developers did a great job creating him because his movements look phenomenal and he's so cute.
This short prologue story was enough for me to wishlist the full game.

Although i have not played the main story for Another Sight, this prologue story of Hodge the cat, features stunning visuals and is a simple to understand platformer. The only complaint i could make is that the control mechanics such as jumping and turning back and forth are a little delayed, but it also adds to the difficulty and playability of the game so you have to try to enjoy those rigid mechanics for what they are and understand that its a truly unique game.

For a short puzzle platformer with a free pricepoint that sure was a lot of fun. Keen to meet Kit now!

Visually reminiscent of Trine and Bad Rats.
I'm gonna be frank and say that the game is very clunky, physics and controls wise and the fact that there are timed sequences doesn't do it justice.
Unfortunately, I didn't finish the game due to that and it very well put getting the full game under question for me.
This serves as a little prologue to the cat I guess, although I didn't see any story, I imagine there is a cutscene at the end.

I very much do recommend checking this out first if you decide to get the full game but I don't think highly of this little introductory addition.

I'm going to have to agree with the rest of the reviews here...The controls and physics are bad unfortunately which get in the way of playing the game for me. I didn't get far because of this reason which is disappointing to say the least. The graphics looked amazing as well which was why I was drawn to the game itself. I hope there might be a patch in the future coming out for this game because I would love to finish it. If you could get past the controls and physics then play the game. I'm giving a thumbs up because of the effort that obiviously went into it.

TL;DR - Anyone who decided not to play Another Sight, as a result of this prequel, should go try the main game on it's own merits. This prequel is NOT a good representation of what to expect.

Long Version:

As someone who played this after playing - and loving - Another Sight, my disappointment with this "prequel" is palpable. This is less a prequel, and more a 30 minute ad for a game that didn't need one.

Another Sight is a beautiful game, with a rich story, stunning visuals, and intriguing puzzle gameplay.

Hodge's Journey promises the backstory of the most enigmatic figure in the main story...and immediately breaks that promise.

This game doesn't have a story. It's a compilation of rushed puzzles that reference much better ones from the main game, and you learn absolutely nothing about Hodge's backstory. If this weren't a free game, the phrase "shameless cash grab" would apply. As it's a free game, all it really is, is a shame.

The worst part of this free prequel is that, it detracts from the main game by virtue of it's existence. I would much rather have paid $20-$30 for a real prequel, than to have this glorified trailer turning people off from the wonderful experience that is Another Sight.

Pros:

- Beautiful visuals

Cons:

- No story. Literally. None.
- Does NOT give an accurate representation of the full game
- Will actively turn people off from playing Another Sight

I loved this game! Took me over 2.5 hours to complete as platforming isn't my forte on a keyboard. Graphics were excellent and surreal. I love cats so our companion was a delight. Doable on a keyboard but does require patience. Plenty of swearing my end! Devs had made the difficulty level just right. I'm now interested in the main game.
Highly recommend now that the glitches has been patched!

A very quick introduction to Another Sight, it's mostly platforms and a few puzzles. Play it first, though be aware that Hodge begins in a very special place and crosses all the worlds you'll play in Another Sight from the last area to the first one.
I really appreciated the introduction to the full game at the end of it, the video is really well made.
The only thing I didn't like in that game is that if you have the "Hodge skins" DLC, it doesn't work for this one game. It's a little thing, but I would have liked my black cat which looks exactly like mine during that prequel too !

Very short intro to the main game where you control a cat on a platform style game (controls aren't great). In the end you are awarded with a teaser to the main game.
I'd recommend it not for itself but as a taste if you are wondering if you should try the main game. So far I'm not tempted to. Maybe on a massive discount.
