Is the $32 XL Sale worth it coming from Session?

For context I bought Session 3-4 months ago for $17 almost half the price of XL. Did 60 hours vanilla, decent story, after modding it I have 236 hours currently and play daily. I have about 20-25 of the best maps worth keeping but usually only skate my fav 10. So with some of the best XL maps being in Session like Easy Day High and DTLA and there not being a story in XL, Id mainly be getting XL for Free Skating, Vert/Grabs and most importantly maps. So in comparison with XL being the older/bigger game. Are there way more and creative maps worth the $32 price tag for the custom maps alone? I saw the miniature bed room map and New Jersey from THUG(which is sick cuz I never got around to getting THUG Pro) which intrigued me since all of Sessions custom maps are all realistic and not as wacky. Also I'm solely playing on Steam Deck and while the Session modding process wasn't to hard would it be about the same? Can you play modded maps online with friends also? Let me know your thoughts, It sucks that that's the lowest the price has dropped the past 2 years with a lack in vanilla content, but I'm hoping for the community to carry this through like it always does. I'm gonna need to be able find 50 top tier creative maps for it to be worth it, so hopefully there's 100s already made waiting to be skated.

Looking at the other posts I'd say it's not worth the price. It's ashame because steam really needs more Skateboarding games.

I would say yes, but for the price… not really. If you ever find the chance to get a more affordable priced SKATERXL, then you should absolutely do it. The only up to the game is probably the modding community, since the devs are pretty much radio silent to the people WHO ACTUALLY PLAY THEIR GAME. TLDR: L devs, W modding community

Haven't played Session so I can't speak to how the gameplay/controls are for one vs. the other, but generally speaking I'm very happy with how it feels to play SkaterXL. The multiplayer free skate is a nice feature, no real gameplay changes with it but it just makes it feel more like a real skatepark where you see everyone working on their own stuff and seshing obstacles together.

I find that SkaterXL is decent at scratching my vert itch. Pulling off mute 540s, alley-oop frontside ollies with lots of front foot pressure, double flip melons, super slow switch shuvs, fakie cab, etc. all feel good, but lip tricks are lacking. IMO, it's really only feasible to get into blunts, 5-0s, and nosegrinds on transition. For example, it's easy to pull off a steezy frontside blunt, but you're gonna have a hard time flipping into a back lip because the game will just send you up into the air or onto the deck. No inverts sadly

I dunno if anyone else feels this way but I think the way the skateboards interact with terrain feels more realistic in XL. I def think Session has a lot of great things going for it but the movement in session seems a bit more stiff to me. Although XL does go a bit overboard if you crank a high ollie.

and no, mods don't make it any better, they make people who regret their decision to buy regret it a little less, they still regret it tho lol.

Sucks that this game seems to have lots of random problems. Especially with what I've been seeing about controller support.

I love the concept of how you do tricks in this game. With the two sticks representing your left and right foot. Gives an added layer of skill so when you see someone do a trick, you know it was more than riding up to the obstacles and hitting X or whatever. And also looks like it gave room for creativity/adding your personal touch on tricks.

Would love to see this game rise again. I haven't bought it because I keep seeing people saying you need mods for the game to feel right.
