What happened to this game?

It was always a failure but somehow it has got worse.

Been almost a year since I played it. I see an update saying there are new maps, yet when I launch the game there are no new maps.

Also the controls are worse, the player has TERRIBLE lag between the controller and the actual movement. I thought maybe my controller was broken, but nope it's fine for other games.

SkaterXL was a joke when it went from early access to full release, and it is an even worse joke now.

I don't know if there are any diehard fans left, but if there are, please spare your butthurt response to my negative review here. This game is rubbish, and the reason I'm making this meaningless post is so someone somewhere might stumble into it and read it before wasting money on this embarrassment cash-cow of a game.

the new maps can be downloaded in-game in the mod browser section.

your review would be more helpful if you explain why you think the game is a joke and rubbish that has gotten worse. you only explain terrible input lag.

i'm using a ps4 controller and don't feel any lag between controller and in-game actions, doing simple flip + grind or manual tricks on command is easy most of the time.

Maps are still inert, lifeless environments where everything is a solid object (e.g. if you hit a small traffic cone it's the same as hitting a brick wall)

The 'challenges' are not challenges at all.

Grabs still do not work properly in switch.

Also the fact that the new maps need to be manually downloaded is just terrible, lazy development. Woefully lazy. "Hey guys we've got a new map, here's a 3GB update for it!" And then you run the game and need to download again???

There's probably a lot of other stuff too but I only played for about an hour. I'm amazed at how little the game has changed during the course of this year. It's abundantly clear that it was a cash cow, released for money and then forgotten about, only existing via small 'updates' to keep the game pushed to the front of the lists on the various gaming platform it exists on.

Nobody will read this or care but in the spirit of openness and honesty I'd like to add that the game was lagging because I had it on a huge screen and it had automatically upscaled itself to 4k resolution. The lag was my video card, heh.

HOWEVER. It still amazes me that this game has not changed AT ALL since it came out on early access. What an absolute joke.

Yes and no and yes and yes but still....it's very enjoyable to do some tricks on 2nd screen. No other skate sim does it better in my opinion.

We all know it needs waaay more work from the devs
The modders do a perfect job
