Skater XL
Please change the switch/fakie controls (or make it an option)
IMO: The fact that you need to input the same movements as an ollie when riding fakie, or a nollie when riding switch, to pull off the tricks you're going for is maddening. It is counter-intuitive. I understand what they were going for, but it makes it so hard to flow throughout the game and do the tricks you want to do.

"Switch is supposed to be harder, like in real life" I understand this argument, but if you want it to be in the game, then simply make it an option for those who wish for a more difficult/realistic experience. I was certain that it would be an option once the game officially released, and the lack of an option was only part of the beta. The fact that it has not been included is disheartening. It is the one drawback that is keeping me from pouring hours into this game and absolutely loving it. I don't want to have to think that hard to pull off a simple trick.

This game is miles ahead of Session in terms of graphics/physics. If the controls were similar to Session it would be perfect.

EDIT: Yes, I know about the mod. It should still be implemented in vanilla to support all players.

Why on earth are you against a feature being added? It will not hurt you. It will only help others. If you don't support it please stop replying.

Where are you getting that from lmfao? Relax. I support it being added, if it officially is picked up from the author, and they are credited for their work being added to the game....

What im trying to explain to you, is that just because a game relies on mods, doesnt make it a bad thing.

Easy Day is a small development team. Be thankful that the community cares enough to make these mods while Easy Day implements an official feature

Sorry. Tbh I had had a few last night and probably wasn't thinking clearly lol.

As someone who only switched to PC within the last year and has many friends still on console, I have their community in mind.

However, the controls don't exactly work perfectly with the mod. I can't seem to pull off fakie tricks properly. For example, trying to do a fakie flip results in a fakie hardflip almost every single time. This is another reason I would prefer the devs take it upon themselves, so that it works properly.

All this being said, I do have confidence it will be added... eventually.

agree 100 percent, there's only straw man arguments to not at least have the option. It's literally the more accurate motion and this complaint is common, especially from actual skaters. Skating IRL to pop fakie tricks you obviously move your dominant foot FORWARD to the nose of the board and to pop a switch trick you move your non-dominant foot BACK towards the tail of the board. It just seems lazy on the devs part to not even make this an option as many times/places I've seen the issue brought up when honestly it should be the default. Totally ruins the experience for me, sense of immersion = broken
Are you serious?

You don't see nollie and switch the same way when you actually skate? I feel like these are the most accurate switch controls ever.
Sense of immersion = amazing.

Also, did you not research anything before playing?
This forum is littered with people that didn't do any research whatsoever and feel like they are entitled to things from a different game or their own specifications.

Jump on your board and do it the way you think it should be done. I'm not saying there are not things to fix. There clearly are. But the controls are perfect imo and if you are looking for a different experience you should try Session or stick to the Skate franchise.

Not everyone will like the controls but to me, they are perfect for switch.
This also applies to the OP in which they stated they loved Session's controls which I personally thought were garbage but to each their own.

Like I said I understand what they were going for, and support it being in the game. I just think there should be an option to change it to what I, and many others, feel is a more intuitive system. I don't feel entitled, I just think it would be a smart addition. After years without a decent skateboarding game releasing, Session was a letdown in many ways but I think they got the controls right. I see much more potential with this game and just want it to be as good as it can be.
I think the controls absolutely make sense the way they are.
as someone who used to skate I love that feature, it's realistic to how it feels to skate in switch stance

I also skate, and what frustrates me is that the regular controls make complete sense to my brain. When you nollie, it makes sense that the stick for your front foot gets pushed forward instead of back. That mimics the feel of a nollie. However, that's also how fakie ollies feel. Picture doing a fakie ollie off stairs. You push the board in front of you a bit just like a nollie. It doesn't feel like a usual ollie. And switch ollies don't feel like nollies for the same reason. Session's controls feel right to me (though I completely understand that others disagree).
I'd just like options baked into the game so that they end up on the console side as well (this is a great big TV living room sort of game and that's where my consoles live).
No way, switch and fakie controls are perfect. Theyre exactly how they make sense to a skaters mind.

no, they're not. Most people here agree that they dont make sense, but they like the difficulty of simming switch skating

I've been skateboarding since the mid '80s. The controls do not universally make sense to a "skater's mind". I skate regular. Switch controls should be the same as goofy controls. The bodies are doing the exact same thing, and as you get better switch and regular become more equal. Hell, I learned switch flips in real life soooo much faster than regular flips.
Just give us options. I don't want the game to change for you. I just want options.
And the desire for simulated difficulty is funny in a game where I landed something like an 1800 the very first time I tried the mega ramp. It's a fantasy game. Just let us control our little on screen dudes whatever way our brains like.

+1
You can just change stance and practice switch. That's what i did for the longest time. But Imo that mod is a necessity. Set switch rotation to 180 and learn to turn your character with LT RT.
I use this game as a skate sim before I skate. It helps my brain figure the tricks out in real. It does suck that it's not an option as its prolly the fakest part of the most realistic skating experience.

I installed the mod and vastly prefer playing this way. You still have to work with two distinct stances but each stance now uses the same logic. I'd love to see this option become official so that it makes it over to the console versions.
They're fine the way they are imo. It's supposed to be really hard to skate switch ever tried in real life? lol. switch is insanely hard unless you're just naturally talented and ambidextrous.

skating switch can be tough, but its a far stretch to say its "insanely" hard
