Here are some frequently asked questions, as well as some solutions.

The game doesn’t recognize my controller. When I press A to start nothing happens. What do I do?

Do you have more than one USB device plugged into your PC? If so, unplug everything except the controller that you are using to play the game with. This solves the issue in most cases.

The game crashes when I press A to start. I can hear the game sounds in the background but the screen is frozen. What can I do?

In most cases, this is caused by a gpu that is below the recommended GTX 950. Please check and make sure that your GPU meets this spec. If it does and your game is still crashing, please email us at [e-mail] with your CPU, GPU, RAM, DirectX version and controller make/model and we can try to locate your issue.

You can also try running at lower quality and resolution specs.

You guys just announced a big update but the features are not in my game. How can I get them?

We typically release updates into the ‘Public Beta Branch’ until they have proven to be stable and working correctly, so this is where you want to go for the newest content. To access this branch:
Right click ‘Skater XL’ and open Properties

Select the ‘beta - public beta builds’ branch.

Steam should start downloading this version of the game. Once it has finished, you will be able to try the update. The game name in your library should now show “Skater XL [beta]”.

If you’d like to switch back to the regular commercial release branch of the game in future simply come back to this screen and select “NONE - opt out of all betas” in the drop down.

If your game still does not update you may need to close Steam completely and reopen.

Can I play this on my Mac?

The game is not officially supported on Mac, even those running Bootcamp, although some users have been able to find ways to run it on low settings.

If I buy the Early Access version of the game will I have to pay again for 1.0?

No. All Early Access owners will receive the 1.0 content update at no additional cost, as a thank you for your support and feedback through the Early Access period.

How do I get all the cool maps I’ve seen people playing on Youtube?

Since Early Access launched the community has been pumping out some amazingly fun mod maps for others to enjoy. We fully support all of their efforts and have taken steps to easily integrate them in the game.
Start by locating your SkaterXL folder within your Documents folder (it's named SkaterXL) and enter it. If you don't have this folder, make one in Documents and name it "SkaterXL".
In your SkaterXL folder, create a subfolder called ‘Maps’
Now as far as maps go, it's as easy as drag and drop! You just need to visit the discord and check out the map section! Here's a link: https://discord.gg/APpsFdK
On the Discord you can find Maps under releases in "map-releases", "map-beta", or "map-alpha".
Your downloaded maps will now appear in the ‘Maps’ menu in the game by scrolling to the right to ‘Custom Maps’

Somehow my controls flipped and now all the inputs are backwards. How can I fix it?

It is likely that you switched your character’s stance inadvertently, thus the controls were swapped as well. To change back to your preferred stance in the Default build on Steam, press the ‘Select’ button. In the Public Beta Branch (0.3.0.0B), enter the Main Menu>Settings>Stance

How do I switch my skater’s stance?

To change your skater’s default stance in the Default build on Steam, press the ‘Select’ button. In the Public Beta Branch (0.3.0.0B), enter the Main Menu>Settings>Stance

How can I contact the developers to give feedback or report bugs?

Please note that some bugs can be caused by interactions with certain mods. If you are getting a persistent bug in gameplay, please try completely deleting your mod folder (or moving to a different folder, not just disabling them) to see if the bug occurs in the vanilla game.

hey game is absolutely fantastic but i noticed recently even though ive noticed very few issues in gameplay. the game is running my GPU to max memory capacity usually with unity builds its a FPS problem so i put an FPS cap of 60 on it still does it i even installed some mods to cap it in game still nothing. this is the only game i own that does this very odd. i tried it at different graphic settings same results. i unistalled deleted all files and re installed the non beta version and its still doing it my ram and hdd is normal.. cpu usage reads higher than normal on all cores as well so i dont know if my system is reading wrong or if its legit pushing my hardware over the edge but again its the only game that does this. any ideas?

CPU: Intel i7- 7700HQ @2.80 GHZ

RAM: 7.89

GPU: NVIDIA GE FORCE GTX 1050 Ti

Steam is showing that I already own the game (beta) and will not allow me to purchase the full version of the game + not showing an option to upgrade. Anyone figure this out??

i can start the game and play the old maps but cant load some of the new maps and when they do load the screen is almost completely white and faded so you cant see anything except a skater silouette. any ideas how to fix this? and most of the time it crashes now. any help would be great, tried restarting pc, opt out beta and uninstalling deleting all files and mod maps and reinstalling hasnt worked

I'm just going to continue waiting for Skate4 on PS5, out of ALL the screenshots on steam and other marketing i haven't see any life put into the world at all, e.g. no people walking about, no moving cars or bikes, no birds, no fish, no rain, no heat waves, no sound to the world (in videos), and a lot of other things missing that could make this a good game to get.
I just think nice try but it falls short...

NOTE: I don't own the game, but i'm just saying it needs work to make me feel like i want to buy it. the world looks nice but that's about it.

P.S. don't stop working on this game, just make sure you guys are not just focusing on one aspect of it. there is a lot of other things to get right.
