Unable to get modded maps

I've followed all of the tutorials (placed the files in Documents/SkaterXL/Maps), but when I launch the game and go to the Custom Maps section, there are no modded maps - it just says 'Instructions'. Any ideas? I'm able to get other mods working fine.

I can't remember if the devs added built-in support for modded maps or not. I'm not sure if you still need the map importer mod or not, but I still have it installed and can load modded maps. Do you have Hondunes Map Imported downloaded? You'll need Unity Mod Manager to install the mod.

Launch UMM and under the "Install" tab, chose Skater XL so the mod manager knows where to find the game, then under the "mods" tab, you can manually search for a mod to install or just drag and drop the .zip folder into the dotted lines.

Try that and see what happens. If it doesn't work, then I'm not sure what's going on. Perhaps a reinstall or verifying game files might help as well.

if you are using "save as" to save your maps then that could be the problem. i had the same problems downloading maps to where they were not in game and it worked when i just hit "save" instead of "save as". hopefully that helps. and after you hit save, just get the map out your downloads, move it in your SkaterXL/Maps folder and you ready to go!

Where are you doing the "save as"? Everywhere I see maps posted (Google Docs, Mediafire) it is just a download button. I've been facing the same issue for months

I got you guys !!!! I had the same pb as you, i downloaded files i put them in the maps files like you see on every YouTube tutorials.. And it wasn't working.. SO a Guy helped me and he found out the pb was the file i downloaded were txt. Documents Files and it was like that because i downloaded using the Microsoft edge brower...

SO YOU JUST HAVE TO DOWNLOAD YOUR MAPS USING GOOGLE CHROME. Put the downloaded file in your:
Document-> skater XL-> Maps

And there you go. Hope it will work for you as it did with me.

I was finally able to figure out my issue was related to Windows Controlled Folder Access preventing SkaterXL from accessing the files. Solution below for anyone else who is still struggling.

1. Open Settings in Windows
2. Update & Security
3. Windows Security
4. Virus & Threat Protection
5. Ransomware protection
6. Allow and app through Controlled Folder Access
7. Allow a blocked app and add the SkaterXL.exe

After that you should be able to see the maps in game.
