Skater XL

Skater XL

New control bindings.
Game definately needs a new way to set up the controls. Controls randomly rebind and theres no way to fix it. Yes! I want to be able to set my controlls more like the Tony Hawk games. In Skater XL the analogue stick steers left and right only when your not doing a trick, but when you are doing a trick, the analogue stick stops responding. Why? the L and R steering switches to the L and R trigger buttons. Why? Thats a stupid thing to do! and makes the game unnesisarilly complicated.

Its so that different speeds and rotations can be set to the flipping of the board, but that can be done with the analogue trigger buttons without having to switch steering off. Sure have the analoge stick control jumpnig so you can crouch at different hieghts, I get that. but when I want to jump and I have the control stick at 179 degrees or 181 degrees the board goes into a flip and bails if I try to gind anything because the board is in a flip.

"Go play tony hawk you noob and get off the forums" - yeah not helpfull

Sure OK I get that they want to have the board completely technically controllable with the analogue sticks but being analogue makes them extremely difficult to make the board do what you actualy want it to do when you add too many controls to one stiick then switching the inputs a second later adds a whole nother layer of frustration.

Do you Skate IRL ? It's the same thing, you need to learn, mastering it takes practice

Don't know why you guys complain about this, 10 minutes later it will feel really natural to play SXL and Session (same kind of controls jfyi), i think i can't even play Skate anymore because it'll feels weird

Your in the only 1% who like it the way it is.

You can have the game the way you want. I however want to be able to change the controlls and button layout the way I like it.

I find it amazing that you would rather only 1337 players playing the game than have an option for everyones benifit.

or you can stop being so entitled and just get used to it just like everyone else.....like literally devote some time to getting used to it, its not that difficult.....besides THPS sucks ass and is still available if you want that godawful controller scheme

Entitled? Entitled to what? Play a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ tech demo with terrible controls? Why the ♥♥♥♥ would I want to get used to it, ♥♥♥♥♥♥ tech demo is ♥♥♥♥. Doesnt even have button remapping. What garbage doesnt have button remapping? console garbage! You're OK with eating ♥♥♥♥ but im not.

Why the ♥♥♥♥ would you NOT want an option in the game to allow other players to play the game the way they want?

THPS doesn't suck, stop being entitled "and just get used to" the "godawful controller scheme".
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Yet another "Go play tony hawk you noob and get off the forums" post

Yes, I would like you to write it all down, so that you can have a turn argueing with some one who wont read your post. You all just read the thread title and make some arrrogant reply.

In fact I'm going to mute and block anyone who makes a stupid comment like that. This forum is for discussion about Skater XL and how it can be improved. But all you you want to do is talk ♥♥♥♥ and belittle each other. Im done.

And you wonder why the developers dont post here.

Enjoy your tech demo!

>doesnt want to spend time getting used to new control scheme for a game that is NOT thps

>preemptively dismisses all arguments that tell him to go play tony hawks because he already knows his argument is invalid considering this game is NOT tony hawks

>doesnt understand that this game is NOT 'push button = function' like thps is. button pushing control scheme just would not work.

>rages when told to do the exact thing he knew people would tell him to do.

firstly, the controls dont 'rebind'. turning is ALWAYS left trigger & right trigger (left trigger to go left, right trigger to go right, simple.) you can however ALSO turn with the left thumbstick (i personally hope this gets removed entirely as its far more of a hindrance when trying to do switch or nollie tricks)

the sticks stop controlling your rotation in the air because they control your leg movements. something skateboarders have been wanting in a skateboard game since the beginning and now we have, yet youre asking for it to be removed...? wot...?

the game is SUPPOSED to be complicated....because skateboarding is complicated. you have to spend time learning it before you can be good at it.

i do however agree that the analogue stick input sensitivity is way too high especially if youre using a ps4 controller (i switched to xb1 not long ago and its ALOT better) so you end up doing alot of shuv its when youre just trying to crouch down to pop but that IS fixable if you use a program like DS4windows. just configure a deadzone for those particular spots so the game wont detect that as an input if your stick is a degree left or right.

the control scheme as it is, is the most intuitive control scheme ever seen in a skateboarding game so far for anyone that has some level of understanding of how skateboarding works. for everyone else it takes some time to figure out. dont denounce it because you dont want to spend time learning it.

AND i repeat, this is NOT tony hawks. if youre looking for a game with a thps control scheme.....wait for it.....play thps :)

Also, this

'Your in the only 1% who like it the way it is.'

is entirely false.

you sir, are the 1% who DONT like it the way it is. skateboarders (the people the game was made for) love the controls for the exact reasons i specified in my above post.

About the controls, you can create a configuration inside steam, without the need of external software, my xone controller broke and i'm using a generic xinput with weird deadzone, especially for manuals, but after some tweaks it feels like home lol.
