Ok, its 40 coins to sleep in the hotel...
But 120 coins for a one use sleeping bag to sleep outside?! Seriously, what the heck! (And no real warning it was 1 use, I knew it was consumable but seriously!)

I'd like to know if I'm doing something wrong, but I seem to be getting the same amount of money for selling the total number of crops as I paid for the seeds... Again, what the heck...

Tried crafting materials for a profit, but nope - basic orange juice on its own is an 8 coin loss.

The only real potential current profit for people starting out is fruit from fruit trees...

Don't waste money for sleeping, either go to the boat or just faint. You'll get 50% of stamina but if you have any fruit on your home island that shouldn't be a problem, only eat when you're hungry or need more stamina, no need to recharge stamina bar if you won't use it.

Crops aren't worth selling, in fact nothing is, unless you need money, I'd suggest just working your way to getting the pig farm and then buying carrot seeds to feed them for infinite money truffles. These are worth selling, but also only when you need the money, otherwise you pay fees for ports to Qalis.

You also don't need to earn money for the first boat upgrade, just do Litio's quest and you get 1500 coins from that chest, that should cover most of the costs and by the time you need another upgrade you should already have your pig farm up and running.

Toy boats are an excellent way of making money, one of the first NPCs you meet loves them and pays a lot for them.. I ended the game with 50k coins. Grow cotton -> thread->fabric+wood=Toy boat that sells for just under 200 coins, need about 2 cotton seeds per boat and can buy 5 seeds per day at the peer.

I just need money to pay off that silly debt quest...
It's easier to grow veggies for quests than just outright buy them, but still need cash for seeds. I'm ok now as I have an abundance of fruit trees, but its really harsh early game for cash!

Well, a Model boat sells for 196 at Caleb, and that requires 10 cotton + some wood, 4 cotton comes from 1x 15coin seed, so that multiplies your cash by 5 times.
Beyond that, resin from pines turns into 19 coin paper for lighthouse lady. Then there's mining which ranges from 80 to 250 coins per bar, if your late game you should have upgraded your mine, there's also clay which will use up your rocks. Vegetables sell great at that science lady in the south.

The debt quest is just for the achievement and is probably just post end game content.

(edit) Oh wait, early game. I don't remember exactly what was my main money maker, but probably paper since you need that for a map to start travelling. Build wells, plant pines, profit.

i found taking your ax to the fence in your garden help you water better if that helps also build more walls more walls = more trees too plant fruit trees

Thanks for the help guys, I made money really slow by replanting craploads of fruit trees and crafting a ton of wells (did you know you can get apples and cherries on Qalis?)
I am ranting about early game when you don't have access to those recipes/truffles and you need a lot of money to clear some of the early quests to access new ones... Like that one where you need to pay 300 to Edegan and the rest of the quests currently impossible to complete (no other destinations available at this point other than Qalis) because they all require items that you acquire in later content or require money...

How early in the game was this? And if you sold stuff you'll need later and is not so easy to find...

I'm still early game and haven't had an issue with money. Spend a couple days cutting down all the pine trees (and replanting obviously) and sell the resin at the market. One of the traders pays extra for it. You get one for every tree you cut down, and as long as you always grab pine nuts when you see them ready, you shouldn't run out of seeds for replanting the trees, so they're essentially infinite.
