zombies animate at 30fps when the game is set to either variable or 60fps
as the title states. just played the demo and noticed every zombie is animating/moving at half the frame rate that the game is running at. can see their movements are consistent but appear choppy, like theyre running at 30fps. hope the devs fix this because it totally ruins the immersion and experience. their movement also affects lighting so for example there was a zombie outside banging on a window and the volumetric lighting was being affected at 30fps and it seemed weird while the rest of the game is running at 60fps.

It sounds like a problem with your PC. I played at 144fps and the game was buttery smooth and so were the zombies with no effect on the lighting at all.

I also notice, the animate fps of those zombies away from you will drop.

That's called optimization, which would be nice to be able to disable on PC. Something needs to give to run this at 60 fps on consoles. Otherwise I didn't experience this issue discribed here. Not on playing 4K HDR on my OLED TV nor playing 1440p 120+ fps on my 165Hz 1440p monitor.

I have also noticed this, but only from a distance (like the hallway with the zombie tapping on the window at the very end).

Once you get closer they should animate at the full frame rate. It's probably meant to do it when further away to save resources. If it does it all the time for you though that is indeed odd.

Yeah this happens. I only noticed it once with a zombie in a window all the way down the hallway near the safe room stairwell. As you get closer that stops though, it's an optimization technique, other games do it, sometimes you notice it though like in this situation.

ok because it does seem familiar as past games used it as an optimization technique, especially with physics, like running the physics engine of a game at half fps (Crysis was big on that). I was running on my laptop 980m with recommended settings, want to run it on my 1080 ti maxed out but the time limit was reached. hope max settings disables any optim's.
You do realize that this is a demo, right? Nonetheless, performance optimization are subject to change on final release.

Eh... not true. Capcom had nearly a year to optimize Monster Hunter for PC... and... well... they did ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in that time.

Yeah Zombies at a distance seem to animate at 30fps. The one at the end of the hallway banging on the window stands out to me. No idea why it is like that.

No they are not. The game releases this month, which means what we have in this demo is what we will have in the final game. They are not going to change anything in that time.
That's your opinion. You never know when final version gets released at launch date.

Both Monster Hunter and RE2 are two different games, and also uses different engine too. Again, performance optimization are subject to change at launch date.

No it isn't my opinion. The game is 12 days away from release, meaning it will have gone gold by now to be shipped out to retailers. The version we see in the demo is the same version we will get at release.

You have no idea how game development works.
I disagree. And secondly, you're also missing the point. You have no idea how game development works either, nor do you even at video game industry. Everyone knows that final version is coming out in 2 weeks. That one-shot demo you mentioned was similar to the one from E3 2018 demo, though the difference is that it has 30-minute time limit and has Denuvo Anti-Tamper DRM. So quit trying to criticize me & spread out misinformation. Therefore, your statement is invalid. SMH.

You can disagree all you want, it doesn't make you right. I'll make sure to revive this topic on release day just to see what you have to say for yourself when the game we get is exactly what we see now.
And i'll be here for when either of you are wrong so i can see which one has to eat ♥♥♥♥, then try to cope with their lose :cozybethesda:

Never noticed this issue myself. Though it could be a performance saving tactic for zombies at a certain distance from you.

There are way to replay the demo again on PC if you just search real quick.

anyone remember the Even Stephen segment from the Daily Show years back? Thats what this thread has turned into.

Yeah its a demo and as history has shown, games never launch un-bugged. So if the "max" setting truly means "max" then all optimizations should be turned off right? Maybe not, and i did notice that once the zombies get closer they animate at 60fps. Not a deal breaker, but if you're walking down a dark hallway then a zombie breaks through a window, gets up, and starts walking towards you at half the framerate that the game is running at, immersion loss.

and !HellYeah! i did find the fix for playing the demo over again thanks
