The Opal Currency is nice, but why not let the battle pass go for 100 Platinum for the people like me who have 100 Platinum since the first purchase I've made since basically the beginning of this game......

Because they need some sort of funds to actually pay for the servers that the game run on. Pay the support staff. Pay the developers. Pay for the ones making the skins.
