Predecessor

This game is cooked.
1,455 Peak, 755 currently playing. I guess its karma for pred fans clowning on Overprime when they shut down. This game is gonna meet its same fate in a year or 2. Might as well hop off now and play a moba that won't die like Dota or League

Maybe, but I'm not exactly sure. Most players I see are on console but idk what those numbers are. I see tons of sony players

Yeah let's pretend Overprime wasn't a petty moneygrab.

Pred won't last much longer at this pace but overprime was a cash grab by mobile game devs. Pred won't last because they refuse to listen to real feedback and just want to stick their head in the sand Like devs did when making concord.

From what I've seen, approximately 80% of Omeda's playerbase is on consoles. Epic also takes a small percentage, so the numbers you see on the Steam playercount isn't as indicative of trends as in other titles (where Steam would be the dominant platform).

However, Omeda's financial reports (latest December 3rd) indicate that they are losing money and that if that particular trend remains as-is then they may no longer be in a "going concern" state 12 months from now.

I'm not saying it's cooked. There are ways for the game to survive and subvert my predictions, but my expectation is that it get's shuttered sometime around May so RGSACE and his friends can keep the remaining float.

Sources:
Playercount - (insider source I will not name).
Financials - ( gov.uk company information service)
Predictions - Trust me, bro

Crazy how some people defend Overprime, when the shut down the discord, all because someone showed people how to get refunds on the game. If Predecessor ever dies, I have enjoyed over 900hrs of gameplay, cant say that about a lot of games. Overprime was due to fail, just from observing the first month of release. Player base went from 30k to 3k in a months time and never saw similar numbers.

Pretty sure their "official 1.0 release" was a hail Mary to get more players. If they aren't at least breaking even by this point, they'll be gone in 6-12 months. It's very unlikely new players will result in more income with the game and community in its current state.

They botched it by getting distracted by things like Brawl mode instead of perfecting their primary game mode. Ranked matchmaking is trash; you can't advertise it as a mode with evenly matched teams and have bronzes matched in games that include gold and platinum players.

i would play dota / leagueif they modernized it, tired of the top down angle
Nexus Dec 11, 2024 @ 6:15pm
Like i said and other here also said, they didn't care what the community had to say, prefered to listen to a very small percentage and tried to force a ranked mode on a very small player poll, that alone shows you that we have some special kinds of devs right there... It doesn't help that Marvel Rivals and POE 2 launched (both good games) and 2025 will kill a lot of games and games that were out in 2024 and that are on life support.

So for those will still play this game, enjoy it while it last because the writing is on the wall and its worse than the Paragon Situation

Such a weird comment. Why would you stop playing something you enjoy playing just because it is going to shut down some time in the future?

I remember that. So scummy. I remember predicting the game wasn’t going to make it (in my review) and was flamed to all hell. I almost accurately predicted when the game wasn’t going to close. I didn’t have to pay a dime because I got into the early beta. The OP fanboys became bitter and it was hard for me to feel bad for them. But the scummy discord closure was messed up.

Anyway, Pred is iojnits way out too and I’m here for it. Ace is a jerk and deserves to ride out a failed experiment. He let power and greed get to his head and once he falls flat, I don’t see many people wanting to work with him anymore. I hope the other folks can get real jobs after Imelda’s closure.
