Anything that will tempt players to return and 'dabble' a bit more, or even play a lot more, has to help, as the playerbase size is one of the issues it has.
I like it, just to get rewarded for a game I'm playing anyway. Yes, please. ;-)
I write something in the topic...and it's ignored.
Omeda clarify this in the link...and it's ignored.
=================
These Loot Cores are NOT PAID FOR. There is no real money involved.
The idea is that you are gaining credits for the time you're spending playing in the game (which I assume, we are all doing, rather than just sitting in the Predecessor menu for hours at a time).
Therefore, based on what you earn while playing, those credits can be spent for slightly more mundane items, like sprays or emotes, but also skins...which is pretty cool.
What they are (clearly) trying to do with this is to increase the egagement of players, thus getting more players to stay and play, which improves the playerbase and numbers of people of various skills, and therefore allows the matchmaking a better selection of people for each match.
==================
The issue with loot boxes (in how many game set them up), was getting random items for a loot box, with the loot boxes being able to be bought with real money. This then was essentially paid gambling (as you might not get what you want, without spending £££). From that, people were just actively spending more and more money, and although that's what publishers want (more money) and players 'might' be able to get what they want, the bigger issue that people will just spend ridiculously huge amounts (however they can get the money) on this stuff. Some people just really don't have much sense or self-control.
Additionally, the ability to pay for 'loot boxes' isn't actually completely illegal. It depends on the location/playform/process. Regardless, some game publishers decided to completely step back from loot boxes, but others (incl. some mobile mtx games) still do it wherever they can, or try to modify how it works.
As I said on Discord previously:
- Cash poor/time rich = Loot Cores
- Time poor/Cash rich = BP + Loot Cores (or just buy stuff in the shop)
The other two permutations don't really matter:
- If you don't have time or money, are you even playing games?
- If you have free time and available cash...then it's almost irrelevant, as you just 'get' it however you want.
If at launch day they do release with the posibility of being bought with plat then that sucks, but even so, they already stated several ways to get these things, its not so different from OG paragon where they would giveaway a bunch of lootchests through different systems, and that made it so easy for f2p players to get a bunch of skins without spending a single penny. I mean i did back in the day without spending a dime.
If anything you can ignore completely their existence, but i don´t think its fair to call it a cashgrab when its not.
So no for me i won't comeback, my problems was gameplay related and hasn't been fixed from what i saw and i said the agressive monetisation (on flipped assets for ~80% of the skins) was going to put off the casual and i was right and now they are coming with these lootboxes idea (who are not paid but earnable) that won't fix the problem of this game that not enough ppl play this game anymore.
So to answer the question, no this won't bring back ppl
Nexus - Your issues seem to be your issues. Many other people are very interested in skins and a bump for how the game plays, changes to heroes, and the boost of getting credits for skins, sprays and emotes will all help pull people in.
Perhaps not you, but it will help.
"Your issues seem to be your issues. Many other people.." Yeah my issues was also repeated by other ppl months ago just like how "many other people" are "interested" in skins
At the end of the day i'm entitled to my opinion just like you are and i'm not trying to make it sounds like i talk for everyone unlike what you are trying to do in that quoatation, you are excited for skins, that's cool, i'm not that's cool. Console players will decide the fate of this game, so let's see what will happens.
On top of other issues with the game.. I enjoy playing but I'm on my way out. Keeping an eye on deadlock as it has way more in-depth mechanics and way higher skill ceiling.
Let's just see what 1.4 has but I'm not really excited for any more updates from this game.
a ton of changes to the meta and a bunch of reworks to char's i will have to see how much is actually good of that. after trying out the heros i know and reading through all the patch notes it feels like my fav. got nerfed. rip to grim's cooldowns. everyone lost hp, majority of move speed was nerfed because they made blink proxys.
I kinda wonder why. did they feel the gameplay was stale to have to change so much all at once ? makes me wonder how balance it is right now or if we are gonna see another major balance patch in like a month. to me this feels like another try to make the game feel fresh and get people playing again. IDK seems like a bit of a weird move. many heros were already in a good place why change it all.
