Asset Flip Games
Paragon failed, I guess Epic released the assets for free so others could use them in their games but several devs are just straight up copy pasting the game. Fault, Overprime, and now Predecessor. I actually liked Paragon before it got the overhaul into LoL Wannabe 2.0 which is what I am pretty sure killed it. Paragon failed to find an audience, so did Fault. I haven't followed Overprime or Predecessor but how does Predecessor plan to gain and keep an audience? Is it following the cookie cutter MOBA staple? Are they actually going to have their own unique characters in the game at launch or just the ones already available? I just found Predecessor and any detailed explanations would be great because on the surface I'm just getting Fault vibes.

It's the same game as Paragon from what I can see. 3 teams basically bringing back Paragon. One of them will stick. Maybe.

Yeah, checking out the website it's only being made by 3 people. I doubt that they will be able to balance and test the game to any meaningful degree. Just a lazy asset flip it seems. Too bad.

Actually, this is incorrect. They got rid of the card system for a traditional item system I believe in Predecessor among other things.

It's not the same game, none of the project. Epic released their Paragon assets, and couple of studios build their own game and used the assets. If You play each of mentioned you can actually see a lot of differences.

I'm not not going to go deeper in the topic why Paragon failed, but it was not about the audience in the general, that was the result of bad decissions. Predecessor used the Paragon free assets but their build their own game, map is originally build by Omeda, the skill sets has been reworked. Card system replaced by item system. For the further changes and news the best way is to follow the official Prececessor discord. The basic info you can check on the official project website: https://www.predecessorgame.com

Aside from maybe a little more foliage what exactly makes the map originally from Omeda? Look at the old Paragon footage, it is identical in layout and assets. You say the skill sets have been reworked but all the footage I have seen have been identical to Paragon as well. Have you just never played Paragon?

Here is some jungle footage:

And their "updated map teaser":

Aside from some added reflections, slightly better lighting, and a little bit more foliage(maybe), how can you say this is new and originally by them?

They've done two ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ playtests. What more do you need?

I wish all the toxic Predecessor fans were still around. This thread would have been five pages long. :balloonicorn:

Everything about the game was perfect... So that's why they're remaking it almost exactly the same. The assets are free, so why not. Except one thing. The ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ card system. That's why it failed to find an audience. And so somebody is making it better. Idk where you got your opinion from.

Care to elaborate on "making it better"?

New UI, New Item system same gameplay style. I say improvements are to be seen, as to how good the changes are will be judge once they release information and game to play.

I actually really loved the card system.
It was difficult at first. Took probably 10 matches to finally let it all sink in, but once you had it, it was amazing.
The real reason Epic gave it the knife, i believe, is due to focusing more on that dumpster fire fortnite.
I remember the community screaming for stability fixes and they just kept putting out recolored skins for more money.

That is the real reason actually. The devs stated they were reassigned to work under the current (at the time) Fortnite devs.

I enjoyed the card system but I wouldn't mind something else in its place, though a regular store seems a bit underwhelming. Still though, the important thing for me here is whether this feels like old, legacy, maybe orb-prime-dunking, controller-supporting, fast-travel with a large map Paragon. I miss it dearly and would love to have something strongly resembling it back around.

It's literally the same game, just minor reworks.
