They announced it back in February, today is the last day before the servers shut down.

If so very unlikely to happen any time soon. Game has a very healthy population across Steam, Epic Games, Xbox and Playstation. There are a ton of console players that steam numbers don't account for. Ranked should provide a big boost in player activity as well then its just a matter of the devs regularly releasing heroes.

Nobody knows at this point. The game may have a surge of new players atm due to going f2p. How many of them will stick? Release of SMITE 2 is also on the horizon.
