What does "unplayed path" mean?

I just started playing the game, I'm just 3 or 4 chapters in it. At the end of every chapter the game recaps the "choices" I have taken and always adds "Unplayed path" at the end.
I don't understand.
If I played that choice why does the game tells me I didn't play it?
I'm cunfused.

It means there's another path you can take that is different from what you took. For example, one of the choices could be either going left or right, and you go left. At the end of the chapter, it will show "Went Left" and "Unplayed Path". Playing that chapter again and going right this time would change Unplayed Path to be "Went Right".

It's just a way to track the important decisions you took for subsequent playthroughs. So if you plan on doing another playthrough, you can look at your choices to try and find the other path. And the choice you took that run is highlighted in white.
