I would like some tips and advise.
This game is so incredibly fast pace with just so much to manage and control. How do you do it? i feel like every time i do a new run i'm actually getting worse at them game because there is even more stuff that is confusing.

So, i guess i'm asking what should some one focus the most on. like there is only so much you can think about at one time so what should aspect of the game should i prioritize.

Also any other tips would be helpful.

Thanks, i really want to love this game its just so brutal.

To start, try focusing on dodging. This game is really a Bullet Hell with Deckbuilder mechanics, rather than the other way around. There's definitely a lot going on at once, but most of it has some kind of pattern to it. So really, the best way to start is to almost ignore the deck construction aspect, and instead learn how to avoid the enemy's attacks.

I'd suggest (for now) picking cards that you can sort of just "fire and forget". Go for stuff like Anubis (that hits everything), or projectiles that you only have to line up in one row (beams, Frost Bolt, basically anything that isn't hitting "exactly four tiles away"). Pick up some cards that will give you shield to help mitigate the mistakes in dodging. Once you've got a good handle on how to not take damage, then you can start learning how to make a deck that can dish it out.

Ah, and as a note (since it's a little bit hidden), you can slow the game down and reduce how much damage you take by turning on Angel Mode in the settings. The dev put that in recently for players that found the game too brutal, and while I haven't used it, it's a good sentiment for player accessability.
Alright thanks this is some good advise. Ill try to think of it more as a bullet hell to feel more conformable with the game.

I didn't know about that mode. ill keep it in mind.

Seriously thanks for the help!

To expand on what was said.

What you should focus the most right now is learning the enemies attack patterns. Just dodging around is not enough, you have to pay attention to the enemies and see what their attack does and where it hits. There aren't that many different enemies so this is a much easier thing to accomplish than it may seem at first glance.

Once you know what each enemy does it lets you...
a - focus on killing the most dangerous enemy first. For example, if there is an enemy that don't move and only shoots in a straight line, you should be able to ignore it and focus on the enemies that move around or can shoot at your tile directly.

b - have an easier time dodging.

The game may seen overwhelming at first, but once you learn the enemy attacks you'll have more time to focus on your said of things...what is your next card? Where you have to be to hit an enemy with your current card? Should you re-roll your cards now? All of this stuff is hard to focus on the beginning, but once you learn the enemies attacks you be able to do do .

After a while the bosses will be the hardest part of your run and after a little more games played only certain bosses or bosses that come very late (the latter they come the higher their level and the more difficulty they are to beat) will give you a really hard time.

For me for example, Selicy is the boss that gives me the most trouble. When she comes very late she tends to deal a lot of damage to me or sometimes even kill me, but the Gunner for example tends to be MUUUCH easier.

ok thanks for the advise. Are the types of enemies all random or do some only show up late in the run?

Enemies type depend on biome

my simply suggestion;
- Try use only skill that don't need to aim (Full screen Poison, Frost, Fire ,Thunder)
- Try grab mana regen and just spam skill without aim. (I did that a lot for the first 3hr)
- Healing spell is great and spell with consume and add max health basicly not dilute your deck.
- Shiso basic attack (E) is OP mid game till end game even at max Hell mode. (You can also kill hostage after get their reward for extra gold)

Sure is after you survive the HORRIBLE early game with terrible spells and without spending your gold to buy good stuff with the shopkeeper. The 2 second charge time for each attack is great too.

Seriously though...i hate Execute Shiso. His staring spells are not fun/useful at all and his weapon is only good after you accumulate quite a bit of gold and it's slow as hell to fire.

He is the worst character to play in the game IMO.

To be honest for me, survive early game while execute everything actually much easier and more consistent compare to get good RNG on Spell and Artifact. (it's require some experience of how each enemies act and when you can execute them.)

If you play correctly, Shiso will one shot almost everything after stage 4.
(Enemies' AI has delay start up so you can kill about 2 or 3 enemies for free each fight.)

I do agree her starting spell is mediocre at best but not the worst.
hmm ok ill look into trying Shiso. Thanks for the tips

the best character is reva honestly because he can parry enemy atacks which is most usefull from all basic abilities also with every move reva getting more and more shield which he doesnt nessasary had to send as quick projectile he can hold it enough to tank most damage so if you having hard time try to learn play as reva first.

but if you having troubles dogding atacks and you dont want to just parry you can use angel mode to change speed and damage in game setting in main menu you can try that its always good start

Here's a basic roguelike tip that can help. When choosing your path, be sure to go for the bosses (dragon heads) in the early game, they give you more EXP to help you level up faster.
But, later in the game you may want to avoid them and focus on saving civilians (signal icon) and avoid confrontations, since the enemies will be harder.

In the jungle area, beware the little spiky lizard thing, it shoots poison attacks that draw out pain.

In the ice area, be sure to kill the spellcasters and the little pixel-fairies. Also, be careful, because ice damage will pierce shields.

Oh right, speaking of shields, a good focus (press start to open your deck) for your cards when you're new are the "Phalanx" set, since you get lots of shields! These will keep you alive, try to avoid irrelevant cards. (Pick your main offensive focus, and phalanx as the secondary. Try to skip cards irrelevant to them.)

============================================

Reva and Hazel make some good beginner characters, I personally believe Hazel is the best, because she gets shields for making structures, and all you have to do is build, shield, avoid. Maybe a little poison to help. You want cards that give you structures, but also that attack the entire enemy field. (Anubis, fire storm, ice storm, etc.) So you can just hide behind your turrets and unfurl madness on the enemy.

Though alternatively, you can go for a small deck (get removal trash cans from the shopkeeper) and just focus on turrets.

set your preferred spells to phalanx and miseri as saffron and go make sure you mercy reva, she will give you another heal
the easiest way to win is get all shield spells and shield related artifacts so you can survive, mana artifacts as well, maybe some miseri heals
and then get all damage spells that you don't have to aim, anubis, minefield , spike strips etc etc then just spam away
OH RIGHT! -> i removed the spells where you have to aim like lightning etc
my first win deck was just such a deck https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2359969949
you can see some of my build here ^

he snowballs super hard and if you don't get 250+ sera before the first boss you are gonna have a bad time and did something wrong for execute shiso- once you figure out world 0 and max profit he is terribly easy- one shots everything.

Traps on first boss and find the spam sweet spot for pew shot- then work to some sort of fragile- glassify is amazing for the build
