Tempering has not been improved
Since this new update came, I am no longer able to tempering the sword.
I followed the instructions and tips from colleagues here, where we have to wait for the fire to go out and then put it in the water barrel, and the sound of fire...

The "batta!" appears, but after being mounted and placed on the wall, says it was not tempered.

If I wait for the fire to go out, it doesn't work, if I take it out before the fire is over, the message appears: "the sword has not been tempered"

So I ask: How the hell do I know that the sword was tempered without mounting it? I still don't understand if the re-tempering process is possible. I've made about 5 or 6 swords and none of them have been tempered.

I am having the same time problem since the last update. Twice I got the failure message before the flame, steam, or sound quit, and once as soon as I put the sword in it was still glowing.

Today was released new update. i think the question of tempering was fixed.. i just think.

i have tried twice and now i got two sword tempered. BUT.... i tried to put on the magic table... and... i lost my sword. it dropped behind the magic table on ground.. without chance to pick up. the white border in the sword just not work to able to pick up from ground.

I got frustrated. i spent many hours to forge and get success tempering... to lost for the damnt magic table.. i would they implemented a button for respawn stuck itens.

If you lost your sword simply us the Find Last Sword Option and it returns it to your table down stairs, sorry you spent hours. The Tempering does work, i get it every time you just need to practice. Also note if you are tempering a sword and it doesn't work all is not lost, simply return the sword back into the furnace and properly heat it back up and try again. As long as you don't over heat sword you can attempt to temper it again. Another thing when you finish your sword on the anvil and it is ready to temper it is best to put it back in the furnace due to it cooling, heat it back up and then put it in the oil tank to temper. If you take it off the anvil upon complete it more then likely it will have cooled down enough so the tempering will not work.

So If you lose your sword when you are working on it "use The Find Last Sword Option"

Two make sure your sword is properly heated prior to tempering.

But, i can see the sword behind the magic table. i just canot able to pick up.

the problem is the sword is not the last.

EDIT:

See this screenshot:

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2397244580

the sword is stuck between the magic table and wall on the ground.

After some hours, i got the sword.

I had to stay right in the corner almost floating in the air on the stairs so that the white border would appear on the sword to be able to pick it up.

I'm more relaxed now. The value of this sword was 695 coins and it was tempered and almost everything was fine!

I found it easier to do, before i was able to do one every five attempts
now I can do one of every two attempts in average

For Tampering the usual mistake others make is put the sword in the oil reservoir and not hold it with the tongs while tampering. In my experience if you hold the sword with tongs and follow instructions - it works 90% of the time.

Yes, i know this. I always hold with tongs. My dificult is to know how much hold into oil before pull off. 5 seconds? 10 seconds?

is it really necessary to put the blade in the water barrel after taking out the oil?

How long do I need to hold the oil? I've tried to follow the cooling sound and also the flame ... but i got most of the time a "batta!" indicating that technically the temper was successful and if I don't put it in the water it says that the blade was not tempered.

This game is supposed to be a real simulator, aside from the "fantasy" part, the whole forging process is real. Heat the ingot, forge the blade and add the temper without adding it to the water.

In real life, water causes delamination, cracks, makes the blade weak, just as tempering it many times also leaves the blade prone to catastrophic failure.

If you watch the tv show "forged in fire" on history channel, you know about the process of forging.

As the Tampering instructions said - observe the fire (only fire cause sound can be misleading) and hold the blade in oil until the flame disappears and remove the sword from oil. If your reaction is timely - you should be fine.
