How can I earn more credits?

I played the game on my previous account and planning to restart now on this one. Bur after some time the credits you earn are not enough to progress. Is there any way to level up quicker and more efficiently to get more credits?

One of the tracks is a tiny tri-oval, run laps, lots of really quick laps and profit. That's how I did it at release to get some really quick credits.
