Steam Deck breaks save

Well, that was fantastic. Had some 50 hours into Project Cars 3. Bought a Steam Deck, tried it out, it ran fine.

A few days later I open Project Cars 3 on my PC and I'm back to the three opening races. Quickly switch off, open it on the Steam Deck, same story.

A little searching and I find old cases where people say opening the game on one PC then on another wiper their save.

Well, guess what opening the game on your Steam Deck does? Exactly the same.

Yeah, compatible. Runs fine.

Though wipes all your progress.

Uninstalled and I guess I'll never play this again.

Thanks for posting - you saved me from the same fate! I was about to install project cars 3 on my stream deck but now will not bother!

There is a freeware tool called GameSave Manager. Use bing or duckduckgo to find the URL for it. That tool scans for the games on your PC/laptop, and allows you to create game save snapshots. In the event something happens and you need to revert to a previously saved state, GameSave Manager can restore your games. Works really well (I needed it at least once). It won't restore your lost stuff prior to a snapshot, but it can help going forward.

True, true. Good shout, but I shouldn't be trying to forecast for shi7 like this. I mean, what's the point of cloud save/ sync/ wevs if it can't undue this ♥♥♥♥-up.

Now the big question is: how do we get steam to take down PC3 form their steam deck verified, cause leaving that ♥♥♥♥ there and killing everyone's save is simply villainous.

So much of PC3 is subpar. I agree that Steam should get active on this. But I will say the GameSave Manager really is worth the cost! It would be nice if Steam had a way to undo a recent save, or go back to a previous save to undo something that was unintentionally done.

But in reality, the same is true with PC3. The files don't take up much space. And sadly, doing something as simple as buying a car upgrade has no undo.

Switching between Steam Deck and PC breaks the savegame every single time and i hate it
