Impossible progression
since there is no option to borrow a car, no rewind and too many sucky sucky events like pace setter or "drive this with that car" its impossible, at least for me, to progress any further or buy new cars needed for new class. I tried upgrading 2 cars but i still dont own enough cars. For some events you need specific country, year or model. I simply dont have enough cash to buy the cars needed. No cars given through progression only peanuts cash.
This is the worst career experience ive had ever. And i had a lot.

It gets worse and worse the further in you go, unfortunately.

I was able to get to Road A with all Career Goals. But that was it. For example, there's a Hot Lap event where your laptime is invalidated before the race even starts.

32 podiums, 29 wins, lvl 3, rank 31C, and dont have cash to buy the cheapest car necessary to go into new class. And i was only able to afford 3 cars- WTF? this career is simply ridiculous

I'll be honest never had an issue with money in game I've actually been buying cars out of my level because of the timed specials, I am however running the hardest most aggressive ai for that juicy 32% extra money and having around 2-3 cars per tier while going through it; the money seems good, it is however confusing to see that It's good with 32% increase whilst being good enough to get all the career goals (the ones that aren't broke that is) Kinda seems like people will just get shafted for not being the best at the game.

Its not impossible, average 7 hours per class for me, up to class A Road I used only one car per class, the one with most races available, now I use two cars - basic for many races, and second for getting more difficult objectives. Its not easy game, you'll see madness with 7 minutes long hot lap 50 turns.

The career in this game is broken with grind( Level progression is slow, and you get pitiful sums of money for leveling up. More than that, you're forced to buy certain cars for some events, which might not be of interest to you.

This is surely a flaw of gamedesign. Shift 1 and 2 didn't have this problem - in Shift 1 you get new events unlock faster, earn more money and *most importantly* you get a 100% refund while selling cars, meaning that you dump the car you don't like or need anymore without loosing anything! In Shift 2 progression was also balanced (though the money income was somewhat finite, as you get next to nothing when repeating events). And in newer games - in Grid 2019 career progression was smooth and rewarding, with plenty of money to buy a new car for every new event.

And there are so many overlooks in the game itself - like leveling up cars for getting upgrade discount for cars, that DOESN'T HAVE UPGRADES!

Madness...

It wasnt literally meant "impossible". But i dont wanna start grind xp-cash in a racing game just to unlock cars needed for progression or even being able to ride them. In older games the unlocks happened naturally through career progression but mowerdays each and every gae seems a grind to unlock stuff we sould , and has been, paid for already with real cash.

#hualahn, I don't grind, there's very simple method, that gives tons of money. When you try to beat your lap time in hot lap, or beat your record in demolition, or even nice time in pace setter, just accept your result. Even if not better, every such attempt gives you exp and achievements (more exp). Well I could call it grind somehow, if I did it purposedly, but I don't have good times on first attempt. Not even once

I am doin exactly that. But without a rewind option like in other "arcade" racers doin 3 flawless laps AND a valid time is mostly unbeatable for me. I am a seasoned gamer and that high octane time trials are not really my strenght ;). Just sayin that the career could be so much more exiting and fun. The advertise the game with huge amount of cars wich you probably never be able to try out or own. That imo the wrong direction of a racing game.

As part of your driver journey, the losses are just as important as the wins, just restart AFTER you complete a race or hot lap and keep the exp coming in :p

All four modes (career, multiplayer, rivals and any custom races) are added to the main driver total.

I am currently halfway through level 7 with around 8 cars and blasting through Road B. :p GTC almost done lol

Also turning assists off will earn you more XP

Thanks for the info, but after havin played the game for 13+h i know that already. But seriously. Dont you feel cheated that you own 8 !! cars after that amount of time invested in a racing game that offers you 200+ vehicles? I do, and i am lvl4 ,have 4 cars now and in road C. Fist bad thing like this i experienced in Dirt Rally. To get better time you need better cars. To get better cars you need better time. Get it?
I just feel cheated when a game offers you tons of things that you probably never will be able to unlock unless you grind forever.
I own hundreds of cars in Forza 7,Forza horizon 4, and the list goes on in Grid and Dirt .games, The later 2 have less cars but mor fun imo and i hope Dirt 5 will go back to its glory time of Dirt 3

In custom races, when selecting a car, press X or whichever button and you can then choose any car you like, build up experience for that car for later on when you buy it :p
