FWIW, it doesn't matter to me if I'm at a disadvantage with a wheel. I'm in it for my own enjoyment.
The problem is when you're playing online. People can use whatever assists they want online, so you kind of have to use some to be competitive.
You don't "have to".... However, if that person and other people are correct, even without assists the gamepad drivers will still have a bit of an edge all things being equal.
I also look at it as a challenge.
There are some cars that are much much faster in the rain with traction control, stability control and ABS. Or with the magic controller assists. So you basically don't stand a chance with a wheel and no assists in specific circumstances.
I didn't say that wasn't the case. I said that doesn't mean "you" have to add them. It's a choice.
I said that you have to use them... to be competitive. That is still true.
