Racing cage + PC3 is a really good fun Racing Sim
TL;DR I am a normal adult guy, I have driving experience, PC3 feels real and a crap ton of fun to me! I have built a real life performance car in my own garage. How about try it for 1.59 hours yourself, refund if you don't like it?

If you are reading all the passionate posts about not being a realistic simulation racer, try it yourself first, I'm glad I didn't fall for the outspoken comments and I zero regrets here!

I use a wheel and shifter + tri pedals in a racing cage. It's good gear, and PC3 offers one of the most entertaining racing sim experiences I have had in a long time. I hear people moaning about arcade elements, I am just a normal racing fan guy. If you nerd out on perfect simulation, you might need to wait a lifetime or two before software can reproduce real life to that extend.

For perspective, I am an adult, a relatively normal guy, I have a mortgage and I'm happily married. Something a little less "normal" is that I took a stock car and tuned it myself into a performance car in the last few real world summers. It cost me an arm and a leg, Ill never get the money back, I can confirm it is the worst investment you can make with real money. I did know this going into the project, but I spent many many thousands on it, lots of blood and sweat too! I didnt only install new pedals and a steering wheel, some of the parts installed: a supercharger, high flow injectors, exhaust, intake system, LSD, coilovers and a bunch of other things, all from my own garage. I'm no pro but I can tell you my car is fun to drive in real life, and I drive with "spirit".

I guess you can say I should know what a real car feels like. I have played a bunch of sim racers before, enjoying Gran Turismo in it's early days and been through Project cars 1 and 2, both missing the part upgrade paths that Project cars 3 offers. I like the arcade like reward system, I like the arcade progression system too.

Now you know a bit about me, I can safely say that project cars 3 is really good fun. It has ALOT of realism to real life driving. It's not perfect, but as I say, Simulation software is a long way from being real life.

Do yourself a favour and don't always listen to the passionate people on forums/reddit/etc, make your own opinion, and roll with it when you do. Who cares if there are a bunch of people that got disappointed and need to vent, think about all the people not on the forums posting, you can bet they have been in game playing their hearts out! ;)

a lot of people dont get or like the change in direction, from an attempt at making a sim, (pcars 1&2) to making a good arcade racer instead, Pcars 3,
I for one am happy that this is what they did, we already have a great selection of really good sim titles, but very few really good arcade racers, ones that have good wheel support and proper force feedback, like you I also have more than a few cars I built myself, old american muscle cars, vintage sports cars, diesel trucks, and a lot of motorcycles, so I like games that feel real when driving in them, and I dont always want to do serious sim racing, often I just want to goof around, without getting tickets or dying, I hope PC3 goes on sale soon, (my real cars need real new tires, and that costs real money)

The unfortunate truth is that the sim market isn't big enough to support many sim titles at the same time. People treat sim titles like religion. Getting some of them to switch from their "chosen one" isn't easy and as a developer, you already have a small target market in that space.

Too true. Good to find another RL gear head @4speed318 ; I just own the one car, and it is not a muscle, maybe that will be my next project, who knows!? ;)

I don't think the game is the issue. It's the fact it's called Project Cars 3. The first Project Cars promised to encapsulate the spirit of competitive racing in a way never before achieved, (I still have the beautiful, metal-boxed deluxe edition). It fell short of that amazing aspiration, and Project Cars 2 worked to bring that dream into reality. It also fell short, but surely Project Cars 3 would achieve that goal of sim racing perfection...

That's where the community's mindset is. No amount of rationalisation will change anyone's mind here.

Call it Shift 3, or Project Shift, and you'd be in business.

As I wrote in another thread, PCars3 has its down sides. Here and there in PCars3 I don't like something. Sometimes my personal user experience is awful. But I have to agree, that driving a car in PCars3 feels very good. I like the FFB of PCars3. I think FFB of PCars3 is better than in PCars2 and also better than in ACC, which is a so called SimRacing Game.
The career mode makes fun. Driving the rival challenges is fun.

Despite of the things I realy don't like about PCars3 it makes fun and I will play it. Hopefully the community will grow so we will have good multiplayer games.

Really? Wow. Have you played Automobilista 2? How does the FFB compare to that?

I don't think the physics in pCARS3 are as realistic as pCARS2, but it's probably the most realistic simcade I've ever played. I like it, and if you're playing exclusively with a gamepad, it is certainly the best of the series. I have a wheel, but it's a pain to set up with 2 little kids, so I haven't had a chance to play pCARS3 with a wheel yet, but I assume it must be at least as good as pCARS2, which is pretty good.

It's not a sim by any stretch of the imagination lol.

I sure hope that this post is satire. Otherwise, you're posing really hard.

No I did not play Auomobilista 2, so I cannot compare. But I heard from several poeple that Automobilista 2 may has the best FFB experience out there. I can't tell, I can only judge about my own experience.

You habe NO idea. As a REAL racer and a Simer for over 25 years you have no idea what you talking about, this game is pure arcade and bares no real referance to real life driving or sim racing. its PURE ARCADE at best and doesnt even do that well.
The graffics are a down grade from PC2
the driving physics are set for game pad console users, so unless you are into Shift , forza, NFS games then this ISNT for you.
Dont listen to this clown where he rates his experiance to GT LMAO....

After PC1 and PC2 wich feel way short of thier intended mark, i should know i was a backer , and tested PC1 for years before it was murdered before release should kinda know what IM on about!!!
go back to your Simcade titles in your games folder.

Not sure why my post triggered you get your caps all sticky. I have an idea, I have an opinion and I gladly share it, positively. It's just a game, I respect that you are part of the herd that don't like it, I'm sorry you aren't having the same fun that I am. Best of luck with whatever game you do enjoy!

Don't lie. Only joined Steam a few months before PCars1 was released and a post history search says you brought the game on PC and Xbox One cus your such a pro...

PCars 3 is fun with a pad on the sofa, but there's nothing realistic about the driving aspect. It is what it is, I didn't even rate PCars 1 or 2 for the physics as it still felt like the car was somehow yawing (rotating) on a weird axis just like in NFS Shift 1 & 2 (same developer).

Now they've gone full circle with PCars 3 which is basically another Need For Speed game without all the cheesy Fast and Furious awfulness.

Not saying it's a bad game, I enjoyed playing it, but it's not even close to being a realistic racing simulator.

You do realize that pCARS1 was not on Steam until after years of community development, right? I'm actually pretty sure that by the time you could even get it on Steam, community funding of it had already ceased. This isn't the mic drop you think it is....
