Gold chips are reset at the end of the month and you can only earn a limited amount in that period so I would guess that's why you saw them disappear. They can be exchanded for silver chips if you have nothing else to spend them on but the game won't automatically do it.
But if you're going to play yourself, play Blackjack. It's a faster game and gives you the best odds if you play correctly. Grab yourself a chart off the internet for the best percentage plays when the dealer stands on soft 17 with surrender. I'm not sure about the number of decks Monica uses. I'm tempted to say she only uses 2 decks, but I play as if it's 4 decks because at one point I memorized a 4 deck chart for a Vegas trip.
One extra tip: Never take insurance. It's a bad bet in general unless you're playing with extra girls and nobody has a 10, but you shouldn't be playing with extra girls (they slow things down), and here's the real kicker: You don't get gold chips even if you win the bet, only silver.
The last thing to remember is, even if you play by the book and things are going well, on a long enough timeline you're eventually going to lose all your silver chips. All casino games give you less than a 50% chance, that's the only way that business can succeed. So the odds are eventually going to catch up with you. The good news is you can't lose your gold chips. Well, except to the monthly reset. Or to the surprise 3 week reset going on today (wtf is that about?). My personal betting strategy is to bet half the chips I have up until the bets hit 2000, and then I stay at that level if I can. You always want to leave yourself room for a double-down or split, that's where your odds really jump. And it would be tragic to get a pair of aces and not have the chips for a split.

Tip: Tech girls are more savvy, and use APL, TEC, or STM attire to provide better odds. Trendy outfits help too.
I always play roulette auto mode since i can't afford to be fuddled by chance of numbers. That's why I'd never have Monica as partner playing roulettes.
Were there poker available I can certainly use Luna poker face inadvertently!!

If you just use the free chips Monica uses on a single number all week, seems they'd be an 8% chance on any given day of getting it, a 44% chance of getting it within that week. I appreciate the strategy.
Can't believe people still don't accept that RNG is real & still clinging to superstition.
The only valid tips & trick is to get better at playing blackjack & roulette.
I'm sure there's lots of guide on google to optimise your win on blackjack & roulette.
Don't believe superstition is probably another valid tips.
Also here, taken from the casino rule at the official site, they even wrote it in BOLD RED letter:
"Gold Chip Exchange" Renewal Notification
The "Gold Chip Exchange" renewal will occur at 4/28 05:30 UTC.
Please take note that as part of the renewal process, all "Gold Chips" held by Owners will be converted to "Silver Chips" automatically, and the limit for obtaining Gold Chips will also be reset for all Owners.
But you do know that this is a game that the developer determines the odds of winning, so it's not at all comparable to real-world gambling, skills, and its probabilities?
So the only one with low IQ here is you, my friend.
I let this month go buy without paying attention. I was going to miss some of the prizes this month. But whenever this has come close I just leave Helena at it for a few hours (no more than 200 coins at stake) and she completely cleans Monica out.
Just wanted to put that out there. I started this thread months ago and now that I've had time to gain experience with how this game works, I'll affirm that Helena probably has the best gambler AI.
Tina is also very good at Roulette, but when you absolutely positively need to win, just let Helena handle it on auto in low stakes blackjack.
Sneaky reply. Thought he's smart.
See you lot. This is what i'm talking about.
Who would've thought that virtual probability & rng is different than the real world?
