Can't download

I click on the Play Game button in the store and nothing happens.

Why?

To install the Steam version in region locked :

1°) go to https://windscribe.com and install the desktop version of this VPN and use the Hong Kong location

2°) go to https://steamdb.info/app/958260/info/ and click on Free (green button at the top right)

3°) finish install in steam but don't start game

4°) uninstall the VPN

5°) start the game and download the lastest version

6°) enjoy

How can you know which countries are locked? If the game isn't supposed to be available in my region (Japan), why does Steam show it? Usually the whole store page is unreachable if the game is not available in your country.

if you are in japan the game isn't blocked. so you can try the step 2 directly or try from steam client instead of steam website.
region blocked are all outside asia

Doing step 2 takes me to the store page within the Steam client, so it's the same as before, I click on the green Play Game button, a window saying "preparing to launch" appears for half a second, then it disappears and nothing happens.

Ah, what a bad luck lately, nothing is working. Anything I can do?

Japan is not Asia region, Japan is a region itself in the games industry XD

Anyway, this is the list of approved countries in Asia region.

you can try this :
1°) make shortcut on desktop and run it of "steam://install/958260" (without "")
2°) make shortcut on desktop and run it of "steam://run/958260" (without "")

if doesn't work, it seems to be a steam client problem. you can try :
1°) reboot steam client and/or computer
2°) update steam client
3°) reinstall steam client
4°) contact steam support

There are more users who used VPN than the Asia region users... so, why this game is still region locked?

I actually previously tried to play the original version of this game, thinking I could practice my Japanese and see some titties wiggle at the same time, but it was way above my level, I had to uninstall it. Now at least the text is in English and I can still hear Japanese audio and still practice a little.

As for why it's locked, maybe they are testing it in just a few regions before releasing it worldwide?

Alternate method is to change Internet Proxy instead of using VPN. Once fully installed from stem db, you exit the game & disable manual Internet Proxy

this doesn't work anymore does it? I followed the steps, and it launches the steam bootstrapper and steam says "This item is currently unavailable in your region"

EDIT: To make it work, I downloaded the windows version of windscribe, activated both to hong kong, relaunched Steam, Then I was able to install the game.
everything else worked from there.

The most important thing is the VPN for the whole system, not only for the browser.

what setting do you have to make. so what proxy etc.?
