Gameplay is very fun and exhilarating after you get the hang of the mechanics. Having so many soldiers on the field can feel overwhelming and intense (in a good way).
The XP leveling system is a great part of the game, giving added satisfaction as you earn new skins, weapons, and accessories.
There are 8 maps, so the rotation is good, and will get better as hopefully more are added. The game has bots to fill in for players when needed.
There is an excellent parachute movement system which allows you to fly all over the map, similar to a glider. It makes the large maps easier to work, and is realy enjoyable in VR.
I've played 300+ hrs, and still love to play. There is so much to learn and so many new ways to play, with 4 classes and large maps. Just when I think I have it mastered, a top player(s) will enter the match and make me realize just how much I still have to improve. If you end up loving the game, you can spend hundreds of hours immersed in an amazing virtual battlefield.
The downsides:
The weapons system is not meant to be as realistic as other fps games, so expect a more arcade like feel to weapons handling.
The graphics are mediocre, and are actually better than when the game first released, so new maps look better than old ones.
There are recurring issues with lag, that affects some players more than others. It is necessary to keep the game window maximized and on top of other windows on your computer monitor to have good performance.
There are other minoir bugs and irritations that come with an EA game.
I've always had at least 8-10 real players in every match and most of the time many more than that, up to 50+. The number of real players varies depending on the time of day, but is always low enough that there will need to be bots in the game. When you capture a point often bots will spawn to help keep it.
There is a steep learning curve since they throw you right into a live match immediately with no tutorial or training area. If I'm on your auto-assigned squad feel free to spawn on my location anytime. I play with muted mic, but I can hear other players.
I have 20hrs and find this game quite easy to play, and be fairly good at. Skill from other VR Shooters will translate into this easily.
As stated by 5009Craig:

How ever I kind of like the shooting on here it makes for alot of fun combined with bots, but Im acutally not sure how to know if "someone" is a bot.
Again, Craig hit the nail on the head. Cant say much else but
I honestly really like WARDUST, even though its one of my least played VR FPS I honesly think when I play this one I have the most fun. Lots of cool people to talk to as well.
is this fairly populated? can you find games easily?
They move en masse to the next capture point, usually on foot, but will sometimes operate a tank.
Other than that, they are essentially bullet sponges, but because they spawn in large numbers, and scatter, the only way to kill a lot of them is with a tank or heli.
Also it might dip more in a few weeks or months.
I like team communication a lot in VR since that makes it really fun to me (f.e Onward)..
I've never joined a game of only bots in 300+ hrs of play, If there are a small number of real players they are playing only one or two matches, and you join a match midstream.
I think each team around 20 is fine, full of players will be nightmare level hard, there are so many places for campers and gun recoil like COD,sometimes you die in 1s.
I didnt expect to find a game i was thinking about before i went to sleep and had to play when i awoke the next day,,,,,,, Then i played Wardust!!!
all my best battlefield , arma moments surpassed immediately .
as for the playerbase PC VR is a niche of a niche but you only need 1 server with a few players on each team and its golden.
Not just a fanboi reaction but the opinion of a 45 year old compulsive gamer who thought he had seen it all.
enjoy
Awesome concept, BF in vr i always wanted that but im not so fan of the execution of it. Gameplay is very fun, easy to get started but clunky. helis are a blast. Classes and xp system awesome. Battlefield vibe to it.
Only thing I don't like about is there's not much bulletdrop, recoil, clumsy vehicle movement (quads, boats ) and when you shoot your gun your fire looks ugly. I refunded it because think visuals needs to be improved and gameplay more polished.
