Most of the people feel comfortable with this grip adjustment position.

If you are bending more and playing, grip adjustment around this position should work fine

If you prefer to play by standing and without bending much, grip adjustment around this position should work fine.

Optimal grip adjustment position varies from person to person. It depends on how they would take stance and at what extent they bend and play.
For better clarity, you can adjust the bat-grip in ground as well.
To adjust the bat-grip in ground, you need to go into Coaching -> WalkThrough
In Step-4, you would be given option to Adjust the bat grip. You can adjust the bat grip and try out taking stance to find out an optimal grip adjustment position for you.
No matter how far up/down the handle I grip I find the ball impact is always too high up the bat when making attacking strokes (i.e faster bat swings).
I actually made a bat handle that attached to the bottom of the index controller and it worked great playing defensive shots in coaching.
I was consistently middling the ball in the lower half of the bat and getting many 10 scores.
Though this was only after I noticed by default the floor was too high and so bat was grounding causing higher impacts on the bat. Once I lowered the floor to be correct it was good.
My problem was that as soon as I start to try attacking shots (in the Coaching and Practice modes) it would consistently impact too high on the bat.
In coaching mode I would review (analyze) the shots and found that while the bat position looked fine at the start, when it then paused to show impact the bat was frequently suddenly much lower than it should be - sometimes the handle completely dropped out of and below the hands.
I even deliberately played shots while completely upright to ensure it was not me dropping as I swung faster.
Unfortunately for me this makes it just way to frustrating to play, so not going to purchase at this stage.
I was confident it is not a tracking issue with my set up as I have 3 base stations and have perfect tracking in Golf Club VR (also use a handle on end of index controller)
I also do have a vive tracker and while support was recently added (to full game and demo) for this it is also not working for me. I have given feedback on this on a separate discussion post.
So I am going to try Club Cricket for now which works with a Vive tracker.
I will keep an eye on if there is any update for this and if the tracker eventually works I will try the demo again to see if it works better.
UPDATE: I have now purchased Cricket Club and have the exact same issue with both index controller and vive tracker. I am now of the opinion it is a tracking related issue and not directly just a game issue. I have started some research and struggling to find others reporting this for these type of games.
I did find that there a 2 main parts to tracking. The base stations which detect at 100Hz and the internals (IMU) of the controllers which detect movement at 1000hz. I have seen reports of the IMU's suffering drift.
I can only theorise that when swinging very fast the tracking is relying on the IMU readings which suffer dift when swing in a fast arc causing the IMU's to think the controller is moving away from the swing arc. This is then made worse when a controller/tracker is mounted at the end of a bat handle (as I have) because this is then travelling even faster.
I have been playing for several hours watching 100's of replays when swinging at different speeds and my observations support this theory so now resigned to this being the way it is. Therefore I am adjusting the way I play (swing) to try to minimise the effect.
PS. I also played some more golf club and feel this is also occurring, just harder to see as the replay (club tracking) is not as useful. Also game seems more forgiving with contact.
