Could be confirmation bias, but it seems like if you wait until just after it makes a turn, be sure it is in wide open space, shoot 2 squares in front, and hold your breath just right, you get 3.
Basically having very high luck (>9) will get three boxes instead of one box. That reminds me to keep one lucky dude back instead of sending all of them out for adventures.
the elf will appear as blue dot on the mini map.
just wondered if it makes a difference or is just rng-based although my guess would be rng 😅
