I know I can handle 1 golden core and 2 core shaping with just a dog and that tower that has artifacts in it.
3 groups I suppose are worse. My spirit trees are still growing (about 50%), and I have all 5 of them, day 105 I think, will have first golden core in a week. I think I should be OK, esp. if I manage to do couple 2nd gen gold core quickly.
What was your reputation?
In the spirit tree guide they said something like you could learn formations and set them up around wild trees to prevent other people from harvesting them. I've not set up even a basic formation before though. Might be time to look up a guide...
I feel like I could almost have handled the first group, which was just one GC and one CS, just attacking one at a time with both my dog and my sect leader. However, then the second group of three and third group of also three showed up and everything went downhill from there lol.
My reputation was between 800-1000 I believe. Maybe I should keep it lower until I get stronger?
Sorry for confusion, I meant that building, yes, not the formations you learn from books. Basically, it has button called "activate" on it, you press it, and then it will switch off automagically once battle is over.
The way it works is your dog is a really good tank, but its attacking power is low. So you bite everyone with a dog, and dog tanks. Then you activate your artifact formation via button on that building, and those ♥♥♥♥♥♥ artifacts do the damage. In the past, I also used outers with really good spirit bows to top up damage - use Ctrl + number beforehand to have a quick group of your outers. I have to say, they might even do better damage than your formation array. Problem is of course that if one of them is hit, they are dead. So position them carefully.
No that's OK - I have 994 reputation atm with almost all map explored, and I have used maxed out invisibility talismans etc. So it is reasonably low. I think you might be able to salvage situation if you have a save.
If not, try minmaxing your dog - I noticed huge difference if you start skipping each time it "waits", hence it exercises more and has better stats in the end, for tanking obviously Qi and Protection are important.
Anyway, good luck! Tell us how it goes.
NP. Just dump everything you are not using. I normally keep one strongest artifact of each type on displays as a backup and everything else goes into artifact formation.
I grew the Wood Spirit Tree and all I had to do was keep the room temp between 15-32 degrees. Then I made 9 squares of Origin Soil (which used up basically all my spirit wood lol) and planted it in the middle (not too far from the spirit vein on my map but not right on top either) and put some spirit wood on stands around the 3x3 square just to make sure it always had lots of Qi.
Usually that square where it was planted (the one in the middle) had 450-500 Qi, so it was growing really fast. I think I made my first harvest at around day 170 and I planted it pretty early, but I'm not sure the exact day. Maybe around day 50? Not totally sure. I think I planted it in Autumn of the first year?
I just used beast blood to keep it warm in the winter, but I struggled a bit in the summer since I didn't have any cooling materials lol. However it didn't die so that's good.
You need to reed a guide for spirit roots. Then, raising cursed spirit trees is easy. Blessed - not so much.
I have 5 at the moment, which is max amount you can have. The reason I grow them is not fruit however, but rather anguish soul gems, because I wanted a playthrough without a hell gate. I grow them in fertile soil - but you need to build a bridge, as shown in the guide.
What is the deal with anguish soul gems and hell gates? I haven't heard of that.
It depends on current season and weather. If weather and season bad for the tree, it will go into curse mode. So it is hard to keep it blessed.

In short, you may feed corpses to cursed/blessed tree for anguish/spirit soul gems.
Yeah this and some items for temperature make it so you can spam agency recruitment of disciples, and then when the randos show up they'll go to the gate automatically and you ignore them until they die. If a character is dying in a Very Ominous and very hot\cold room they drop anguish gems, which is super useful for Spectral Refining, the skill that increases the tier of items. Anguish gems are otherwise kind of a pain in the ass to get afaik.
