Protection, Shield and Barrier?
Can someone explain to me the difference between Qi Shield and Barrier and how the Protection skill affects them?

I'm getting confused with the subspirit crafting.

It's saying, apply a small Qi Shield or you can learn manuals that say increase shield value. What shield value? Barrier? Why use different terms? So confusing.

The whole game is like this. The game would benefit GREATLY from a proper translation company going over and renaming all the things properly.

qi barrier is how much damage each point of qi can absorb, and there are multiple stats which can increase that value. this is the real problem with readability - most combat values split their stats between percentage increases, flat base value increases, and modified base value increases. so you can have 3 differently named stats which all essentially boost the same value.

even worse you have stuff like what you're describing, where the mechanics get applied to special cases, which makes the ingame descriptions even more esoteric. to clear things up, the qi shield attachment under the first category of sub spirits "cultivation pro" allows outer disciples to use a qi barrier, it will not increase barrier power for inner disciples. you need to apply the skill epiphanies in protection related attachments for that, NOT that tao epiphanies which will increase your protection skill.

I have dumb questions related to this-

In the "stuff you can do with sub-spirits for outer disciples" section there are four items.

The small, medium, and large shield options, and flight.

Do the shield options stack? I assume so, otherwise why is there more than one of them?

It takes 2 sub spirit items to make the level 1 stuff work. The medium shield is level 2, and the big shield is level 3. Can I presume that I need four items to make the level 2 shield work, and 6 or something for the level 3 shield?

Can I just stack multiple copies of the same shield to run the numbers up?

Thanks for clearing that up.

It would be nice to know what stacks and what doesn't without having to waste tremendous time and resources like subspirits.

Oh, and how do you know an outer has a qi barrier? I see no indication of it being active despite giving someone two spiritual artifacts.

He as artifact flight which works, and qi shield which I see nothing of in his stats.

And does anyone know what the barrier values of small, medium and large are for the subspirit attachments?

i dont believe shields stack, so you'd be better off triggering the requirements for the bigger shields with stat boosting cultivation abilities on artifacts since they will also work on outers

Can you give an example? I don’t know much about sub spirits yet and I don’t understand.

There's a stickied guide thread in the top section of the forum that has alot of helpful information.

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1FyMSWjjj4FK4e3OCP0X58Lczg0Vw4Dqf_Q2xmjDu1QI/edit

From it I found out that, 1 artifact level requires 2 pieces, 2 level requires 4, 3 requires 6, 4 requires 8, 5 requires 12 and 6 requires 18.

I suppose 6 is the highest rank used for crafting, but you can get rank VIII for your primordial rank.

Since i can't see any indication of outers getting barrier since they have no stats page for it, I have no idea if they stack or not.

I meant, what is an example of a stat boosting cultivation ability that you can give outer disciples? I thought the only thing you could give them was the basic stuff. Can you give them other things? Like laws and such?

Also - does anyone know if equipped but not activated talismans count towards the sub-spirit item requirements? If I give someone six sub spirit crafted talismans from the same guy, will the sub spirit bonuses activate?

I would experiment in game but that is a huge investment in time and resources (pretty much an entire demigod's life) just to test a theory.
