Very, if you're willing to learn from failures and retry

Game's discord is a great way to get info you need

His video finally got me to pick the game up because I wasn't really sure what I was getting from the store page.

Been 60 hours in and I've managed to make a mortal that often rips the spines out of basic enemies leaving them paralyzed on the ground, and can survive having their entire skull pulverized into dust by an Ancient Beast God, among the rest of their body, and still survive.
It's stupid ridiculous and there are some things that can ruin your run, like getting too much reputation too quickly, but otherwise it's great.

You have a lot of control over your reputation, so I don't know why that's a negative. You mostly gain reputation through adventuring and doing specific events, like going to The Mortal Realm or fighting other Sects.

You can just... not do any of those, and your Reputation won't climb very much even after many years in-game.

There's also Talismans that lower your Rep gains.

You can also get some rep from building Shrines/Temples at locations on the map, but again if you don't take a policy, your shrines will never grow, but you won't gain rep either.
It's a negative because it's one of those pitfalls that newcomers often seem to have trouble with, AND it is a nigh-irreversible issue if you do happen to get it up too high by spamming the manifest mandate through derivative calculation too early, not bringing a talisman, or grinding too many awakened beasts or the Kunlun Competition etc.

The Flood Dragon cave was another big point of contention, even though it is kinda easy to seal that off for good if need be. Just saying, if you know how to avoid the couple of things that can perma-screw a run for you, it's great.

The game does look very interesting, the combat is confusing me. Can anybody explain it?
Anyone who's not a filthy, mortal rice farmer has a qi bar, which is basically their "shield" before their physical health, as well as counting as offensive mana. In the battle stats there's a value for how many points of damage someone can absorb per qi point, which usually starts out somewhere around 0.1-0.16 for your own, but some beasts and enemies start out with values closer to 1 or higher, which means they can be way tougher than their qi pool suggests.

Damage is dealt through spells, physical attacks (weapons, physical cultivator shenanigans) or artifacts, which are basically just floating magic items which have their own attack value multiplied by the user's artifact power stat, and artifacts store a certain amount of qi as well, which they use up in combat.

Artifacts can block and ricochet off one another, which also costs qi as they damage one another's internal pool, whereas spells usually come blasting straight at the target.

Later on you can also put your guys into formations, which equalizes and combines that qi power for everyone involved, but also comes with it's own risks especially if the participants have vastly differing qi values. Those are kinda complicated to explain though, might wanna look up some guides once you have a couple of Primordial Spirits.

whats wrong about farming rice? Rice farmer are the pillars of society!
No qi bar, gets one-shot by pretty much anything. Also there's a penalty for having your demigod DBZ characters kill them if they do attack, as the heavens find that to be a little bit unfair and will ramp up tribulation strength for whoever does it. Gotta let your dog or your own rice farmers handle it.
